I have been using the Perrin 93 since March with no codes. The only time I did get the CEL was when I used the Cobb 93 for two days.

Chris @ Cobb suggested resetting the ecu and that perhaps that should have been done before the Stg 2 base flash. i've cleared the code and reset, but haven't made it out to try and replicate the code. perhaps later.

BTW, I had the Stg 1 93 Oct map flashed for two weeks with no issues whatsoever.

anybody else throw a CEL yet?
Its overboost problem . Easy to fix just buy a Greddy Profec B spec 2 Boost Controller ( no restriction pill ) thats what my protune did and i ran 8 times in 1/4 miles with no problem at all. No more check engine.

I have been running the Cobb Stg1 93 octane map for about a month and just threw a CEL on Sunday. Rather disconcerting when it happens.
bklynpanman , where can you get the Perrin maps?

You can only get the Perrin maps if you bought the Accessport from Perrin. You could try contacting them and see what they would charge you.

Don't say all. I haven't thrown this code yet (or any for that matter...knock on wood).

Thanks for the tip bklynpanman,
To be fair, Cobb only has a couple of cars to base their tune on. Clearly not everyone using their map is having the P0442 error code. I expect that some cars just have tendency toward overboosting as a result of differences in restrictor pill aperture or some other mechanical issue. Anyway, I don't blame the tuners if some percentage cars don't work well with a map that pushes the car beyond what the mfr decided was optimal performance.
Why doesn't the Perrin map result in P0442? Perhaps they happened to get a car with the same hardware as ours ...

whatever the case.. it's still not a good thing no matter how you look at it or explain it... I'm sure there are a lot more people having problems outside of this board.. fact is.. i have heard not 1 problem with the perrin map... just cobb.. ..can't dance around that fact.. oh well..

wondering out loud if the Canadian 94 octane makes a big difference, no codes yet with the COBB 93 octane stage 1 (took it relatively easy for the first couple of hundred kms so the ecu got used to the new map)

Maybe most people found the same thing that I did - the Perrin map doesn't make anywhere near as much torque as the Cobb map. I tried it out for three days and did a dyno run; I saw the torque loss and switched back.

I haven't seen the overboost CEL yet.

I don't think it's an octane issue, the code is thrown on overboost, not on knock. If your engine is prone to boost creep, you can throw this code no matter what octane you're running. It's usually not something that will happen on daily driving, the engine has to be under load for an extended period of time so the boost is continually high. Think driving up a long hill with the accelerator down and boost maxed for 20-30 seconds. Boost gradually "creeps" up beyond the programmed safety margin (which depends on the map - a higher octane map will have a higher boost cut-off point). Boost creep is not a quick event.
