IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I've had the COBB shifter with the replacement bushings now for about 2 weeks and so far I've been very happy with it. Each gear change really feels solid, crisp, and precise compared to stock. Sometimes I've noticed that there's a slight high pitched rattle for a moment when I shift into second gear, not at all bothersome though. This ad is not endorsed by this member. I agree with everyone else about driving one with a short shifter - you think stock feels great wait til you try a short unit. I personally would go with the Cobb; you can choose stock shifter height with shorter throws, shorter shifter height with stock throws or shorter shifter and shorter throws. The added gear noise should be reduced compared to 04-07 sti's - there is a LOT more sound insulation in the shifter console than there was in the previous generations. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (91) | I would recommend the Kartboy lever with EVERY bushing you can get thru TiC. If you havent considered it, a different knob can make a pretty drastic shift feel improvement too. check out what people have to say about the new stainless steel super-heavy knob I just introduced to see what I mean |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | IDK about wc lathe werks knobs but I had a prodrive knob in my 05sti and it helped alot. The 08sti stock knob is heavier then the prodrive so I'am sticking with the stocker for now. |

| Junior STI Driver | I have the 08 Kartboy shifter with TIC pivot bushing, as well as the Kartboy Shift linkage bushing. This install is night and day differenace in shift feel. everything is very crisp, and i can feel the syncros when the tranny is cold. im glad i did the upgrade, and the only downside is the small amount of gear whine coming into the interior now. mucho better than the somewhat sloppy stocker. coming from honda products, i was already impressed with the stock STI, but the Kartboy with bushings is well worth the cash. the only reason i did not go with cobb is the adjuster screws and the horror stories involving rattling or other issues. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (5) | I had a KB SS with TiC Super Shift Set and a WC Lathe Works knob on my 06 STi and shifting felt amazing, it was perfect for me, I'd say on par if not better than an S2000. I plan to do the exact same route with my 08. I actually already swapped over the knob and have the KB SS sitting in my room for install this weekend. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I hope this isn't a high jack but I noticed that SPT is offering a short shift kit too or is this just a replacement SPT - Subaru Performance Tuning (Performance Parts) | Select Parts Pretty pricey though but it does look like it replaces everything....??? |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Good information. What would you recommend as a complete package from kartboy as far as bushings, and shifter from kartboy's products? For a 2008 sti. What does the kartboy short shifter reduce throw by? |

| Junior STI Driver | I just ordered my 2008 STI with a factory installed Short Shifter. It is actually installed at port. It is $451 (includes labor to install) You can also buy it on subarugenuineparts.com It is not a reduction of 10%, it is a reduction of 30%. Like you, I saw the 10% on japanparts...but I have confirmed with SOA about the reduction of 30%. I had a factory STI SS on my 2003 WRX and loved it...can't wait. I want to stay OEM as much as possible. Really helps when selling the car. |
