IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I need rims for my 2008 STI for winter tires. I want something simple, 5 or 6 spoke i guess, clean looking, must be gunmetal or similar color, and INEXPENSIVE - ideally around $100-150 per rim (Hopefully this is realistic). I'm just looking for a quality wheel thats not going to give me an issues for winter tires. I want stock sizes for Dunlop Wintersport 3D 245/40R18 93W tires: 18x8.5J Offset 55mm Can you guys suggest some rims that are close to what I want to spend? I want to spend as little as possible, of course! I have the gold bbs wheels for summer, so I'm not looking for show off rims here. Assuming I can find something priced right, I will be buying tires & rims ASAP because its snowing here and I'm on OEM summer rubber! Thanks for any replies. This ad is not endorsed by this member. the 17x8 bbs wheels off the 05-07 sti will work as well. or just order a set of 17" rotas that fit the 05-07 sti with winter tires in that size instead if you're really concerned with saving money. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Oh, ok yes I'd much rather go with 17"s. Can you give me the specs for the rim so when I go looking I know what to tell people I need (offset etc). Also, what size tire do you recommend? I guess I would prefer to stay at stock STI sizes if that fits over the new brembos. Awesome! That will make the rubber a lot cheaper as well. I didnt know 17" would fit. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Go with a 17x8 rim, then maybe a 225/45 or 225/50 which should closely match the stock sizes. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I got some cheap wheels and tires from tirerack this winter. They were a set of Sport Edition wheels on Michelin Pilot Alpines for around 1100 shipped. Can't tell you what size they were off the top of my head, but they were they exact wheel/tire size as the BBSs and they cleared the '07 Brembos. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I saw the sport edition- are they an ok wheel for winter? Did you have any issues with them? They looked ok to me, but maybe just a little heavy. |

| Senior STI Driver | Sport Edition is TireRack's house brand. Some of them are pretty heavy, but others are quite reasonable. I've had a pair for winter wheels on an xB and a GTI and I've never run into any issues with either. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | no complaints so far. i haven't done any hard driving this winter, but haven't really noticed a difference. the lettering on a couple of the center caps have begun to wear, but that doesn't bother me. easy to clean, i'd recommend them. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Got nice gunmetal rims from Directdisconttire.com for $130 each, then added the hancook icebears, 225/50/17 these are really good in the snow and pretty good on the dry for snow tires.
