Am I being paranoid with boost spike fears with a Cobb Stage 2 but stock catback? I know I'm probably safer than if I went with an aftermarket turbo-back but I still want to keep an eye on things.

On a related note, will the ecu just go into limp mode if my boost levels spike too much or should I not rely on any built-in safety features (if any).

FYI, I was able to log data with a V1 Acess Port Cable and a serial to usb adapter and ECU Explorer on my 08 STI. Woot.

<shamelessplug>

EcuFlash will support reflashing of 08 STis and other CANbus Subarus when I release the new OpenPort 2.0 device shortly. The new unit can also log as a standalone device to a microSD card.

Tactrix Openport 2.0

</shamelessplug>

I'm buying an 08 STi in the next couple days so I can insure the logging works well in long term testing.

I'm very much looking forward to that. I've got an OpenPort 1.3 cable and can datalog with it but it will be nice to be able to download the entire ECU image and make tweaks if necessary.

Edit: To be fair to everyone else, I need to warn you that you aren't supposed to be vending (posting links to products on your site) without being an authorized vendor. Please don't take that the wrong way as we greatly appreciate any and all work you do for interfacing with the Subaru ECUs.

ecuExplorer looks pretty buggy - lots of people were having issues getting it working in that thread. Are there any other ways to get ECU data from the 08 STI via the COBB AP? This is interesting.
Today I just hooked up my laptop using ecuexplorer with the cobb v2 dong. Worked perfectly first time.

I've been trying this with my Cobb cable and ecuexplorer. Do you have any suggestions or links to software I may need? I have also installed the "installAPDongle" drivers which i think were version 1.

Basically the problem I have is it can't see or can't connect to the ecu just says disconnected.

No worries...now get back to work!

I'll definitely want one of those cables when you're done and the ECU maps have been cracked.

huh..... that makes no sense. Are you talking about the boost display on the cobb?

no i was referring to the boost display output from the ecu, i was told that it was limited to 18.4 psi internally. don't know for sure, but if it is it should not be capped

I believe you can get a general idea of boost pressure from the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) parameter but subtracting the 14.7 (give or take a bit).
