For Perrin it should theoretically be a little higher, but I've heard people are getting 18 psi out of the Cobb map. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I read over on the Cobb forum that someone is/was having throttle issues with the 91 octane Cobb AP tune. The throttle pedal is dead for the first half inch or inch (don't remember) of travel, then responds normally. He also tried Cobb's 93 octane tune and reported no such issues.. it's only with the 91 tune. Anyone have this problem and/or know if the tune's been fixed. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | with the AccessPort is Perrin or Cobb better? I hear with perrin the psi is different when changing the modes of the car... Which i feel is pretty cool. As to you can put it in I mode with 9 psi and drive your buddies around then scare them by putting it in S# mode with 18 psi and freak them out. haha |

Yeah, I've seen the COBB map description. I wish Perrin had more info on their website too. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I did software dyno runs with the Cobb and Perrin stage 1 93 maps. Cobb makes a LOT more midrange, but the Perrin pulled harder up top. I wanted the grunt, so I switched back to Cobb. After a week I did another pull and found that the top end came up to the Perrin level, so I got better performance with the Cobb map. The Perrin S# map reduces throttle response sharpness in the beginning of travel to S levels - I asked Jeff about this and he said he felt the S# setting made it harder to drive. I disagree completely, but he did offer to make me a custom map to put the response back. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I disagree with majority on the Si settings suggestions. Why do we need a middle setting? 1. Economy is still in majority depended on HOW YOU DRIVE. 2. For those rare occasions where other people drive car your car (WHY?!) or if you drive your grandma to the airport - a economy/low boost, slow throttle makes more sense. This also makes great valet parking settting. 3. Any other time I want all balls out setting - I control if I want to take it easy or gun it. AGAIN, what's the point of the middle setting? It's a missed opportunity. I would make the third setting anti-theft setting. This way I can set it before I park or if I was get carjacked or whatever else (your kids or friends "borrowing" your car - having access to your keys) , as lame as it seems many people don't know about the Si settings and we could have yet another hurdle to taking over you car. BTW, since the car always defaults in to S or I and NOT S# - I would make the most used - all balls out setting S, the S# = economy and I = anti-theft. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Do the stage 1 mappings get rid of the hesitation between 4k and 5.5k rpms? I just got out of break in and am noticing that. I fully plan on getting an AP, had one on my 03 wrx just a matter of when I have a chance to order. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Anti-theft for I-mode? Ugh. I think you're more likely to use I-mode in its intended mode than remembering to flick it into anti-theft while someone is car jacking you. I-mode is not just for economy. I was driving around in it to see how horrible it was and while it was sluggish, I could definitely see how someone would get a use out of it for cruising, taking it easy around busy city streets, and using it for enhanced throttle precision in low-traction situations. I do agree about S-mode. I tend to find myself flicking it into S# almost immediately after it is fully warmed up (5-10km...just an estimate without an oil temp gauge). |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Holy moly does Cobb stage 1 feel 10x better than stock. My '05 never responded like this to stage 1. I haven't even gone WOT yet with the new map (not until I get my laptop hooked up and logging) but my god, even at 75%-80% throttle in S#, the car just boogies. It's not even so much the acceleration as it is the smoothness. The lack of hesitation is totally noticeable and makes the acceleration feel more like my '05...though faster. |
