Awesome, thanks for the information. I will save up some money and I will be sure to get this first. Is $700 pretty standard for this unit? Can I find it for cheaper somewhere or not really? Thanks again.

The 08 is pretty new therefore it will be tough to find a used one. Yeah, $600-$700 is standard for a new one. Call Cobb directly for their pricing.

You might consider to purchase the Cobb AP from Perrin Performance. It is $699 from pretty much everyone. However, the Perrin guys will include one of their tunes (you choose Octane) at no charge. I called them to veify this is truly a superset - you get the Cobb maps AND a Perrin map. I spoke to Jeff there. He's real knowledgeable and a great guy to talk to. (I have no affiliation to Perrin but I'm also ready to buy the AP from them.)

Wonder if they do group buys?

this thread is very informative and helped me make the decision to buy an AP from Perrin instead of from another vendor. this is mainly because i can use both Perrin's maps and Cobb's maps to pick which one is more to my liking.... now if i could just get the dam break in miles faster.

that's what i did. word i was given was that Cobb has forgotten what the S in MSRP means and pretty much has a lock on what dealers can sell the AP for. that only leaves services and dealer "sweeteners" to draw you to one over another. i went with Perrin and have been happy with the experience.

So if you buy a brand new AccessPort regardless from what tuner/company you get free Cobb Maps??

yes. with perrin you get all the cobb maps (which can also be downloaded from the Cobb web site if there are updates) PLUS a perrin map of your choice; Stage 1 or 2 and octane of 91 or 93. since it's an additional "performance map" and I don't have stage 2 stuff, i picked state 1 @ 93 octane. i figured if i need the stage 1 @ 91 i can use the Cobb map.

I got my AP from Perrin too, with the stage 1 93 octane map, and would gladly buy from them again.

You're not going to hurt anything by putting the map on now.

Especially if you're planning to baby it for the rest of the break in period anyway.

The 1000 mile break-in is excessive. Your car is dynoed minutes after it's put together anyway.

Uh huh. And you know this how? Outside of the new GTR I've never heard of any Japanese car that is dynoed after construction...

Did anyone have issues with the perrin map? I couldnt get full boost with it and the car ran badly. I reflashed, etc and troubleshooted for a while.

I wouldn't say my car ran poorly with the Perrin map(93 Oct), but the Cobb map(91 Oct) does seem to feel better(faster) and it runs less boost. Ive reloaded the Perrin map several times and always go back to the Cobb 91 Oct map.
