Yup you should have tried it first. 16psi is not correct. Yes i wrote it in the map info, but was changed a long long time ago. 18psi is correct. 18psi is what everyone should see unless you are at really high elevation. But we are not shipping high elevation maps. So try it and let us know what you think.

The SI drive can change boost only at this point. Our stage 2 mapping does this very well, and the stage 1 mapping as of a few minutes has this also.

As for which is better: this is why it would be nice to see a series of back-to-back dyno runs with these maps. Until someone does that, we'll have no idea. We don't even know if the map that produced that dyno run is what Perrin is selling with their AP.
Yes our mapping was out a long long time ago, so we never had anything to compare to. We thought our gains of 50ft-lbs and 35WHP were a good starting point for people. As time passes we will for sure do some back to back runs with the Cobb mapping to show the difference. WE have done this on the other maps we offered for the 08 WRX (CLICK HERE). Truely the Cobb mapping is always going to be detuned a bit to keep things safe. Then all of us Custom AP tuners will be providing the more aggressive mapping. Also as time passes we will making more improvements to things some are things you will never see, some might be noticeable. But for now 18psi is very safe and making that much more power over stock i think people will be very happy.

My answers for the first couple questions were:
-The COBB OTS maps are much more detuned, but all the issues that are had with OLCL delay are fixed, and the AFR's are safe for what we are offering.
-The standard Cobb maps are included, and downloadable from their site.

I didn't asnwer the AFR as its not something super secret, but its not like we are offering unsafe maps. 11.5AFR is what we shoot for.

Also for those of who have already gotten maps, give me an email, and i will make sure to give you the newest one. This has the SI drive changing boost from 18psi in S#, 15psi in S, and 8psi in I.

Also we do have them instock even though a couple days ago we didn't.

Keep the questions an comments coming. I would love to get feedback, weather its here or in an email. Our goal in the end is to sell enough AP's that we keep this free custom map thing going forever!

LATER!

Jeff, what about people that wanted to order the perrin mapped accessport, but your site didn't allow me to log into my account, i was impatient and "needed to order right now", so i ordered it from another vendor with just the cobb maps on it.

what do i have to do to get my hands on a perrin '08 sti map for califonia 91 octane?

edit: when people refer to redline, are we actually talking about the revlimiter ?
what is the stock rev limiter set to (i haven't bounced off it yet in my new '08)

Yeah I appreciated the e-mail and I'll definitely be ordering from Perrin because, hey $695 for an AP or $695 for an AP + another 93 octane map. More choice is always a good thing.

My only gripe about what Perrin is offering is the whole S#/S/I setting. I was really hoping that your stage 1 map would keep the SI drive's throttle mapping" the same as stock. Therefore, I-mode still ultimately shoots for 18psi but does so less aggressively than S and S#...which, correct me if I'm wrong, is how stock works, right? Any way we could get a map like that?

Thanks Jeff.

That's all need to know. It is pretty clear right now.

Someone posted that he saw the 16 psi number in the map info,so he lost interest and didn't bother to try it because of that.

2008 STi Cobb AccessPort w/Perrin Mapping

I'd definitely give your map a try.

I agree that keeping "I mode" stock, or very close to stock, is ideal as a "wife doesnt want to deal with it" mode. My wife already commented to me that she would prefer it if the I mode stayed stock.

I'm new to the AP discussion.. So tell me if I'm correct. Perrin provides their own slightly more agressive 93 map but does not give it to people that bought the AP from COBB? Can I also assume that the Perrin AP comes with all of the COBB maps and can be updated with future COBB maps??

Jeff, in trying to decide on which version AP to buy, logic would lead you to buy the Perrin to allow for the greatest flexibility later for someone who:
A. wants all of the maps available on the AP
and..
B. if he or she decides to do the downpipe, they can choose from the Perrin _or_ the Cobb?

On the PERRIN mapping, give us a call. We have them for $99.99 but maybe we can work something out, esspecially if you put an exhaust on Back order
Regarding redline, when someone ask this i am referring to rev limit also. It is set at 7000, but from 6900-7000, the Throttle plate starts to close to keep the limiter nice and smooth. With the stock turbo, going higher is kind of useless, and not so good on the bearings.

Coming soon. We use Surgeline tuning to help us on our other maps for the other cars, and for different fuels/elevations. So its going to take some time to get some solid high elevation maps. But we will keep you posted! If you have at least 92 octane, i can make a map that i feel would be pretty safe, but just not dyno tuned to back up our numbers.

The I drive is actully detuned from stock. In stock form the boost the same in all modes. But actually make "I" Wastegate boost pressure. So about 8-9PSI.

Yes, if you buy an AP from us or anyone, you get all the Cobb maps for free. We then offer our custom map program for all the cars and charge $180 normally. In an effort to get people to buy the AP from us, we offer you the "free" Custom tuned maps. While this is a free map right now, it may not be in the future.

Choosing who to buy it from is up to you, but our offer with the free maps right now is a pretty good deal. And then when we get you your stage 2 stuff, we will have a map for you also! Hope that helps!

Just got mine from you yesterday Jeff, thanks very much. Do you have a map for 92 octane (for those of us in the Pac Northwest)? The map that came with it is 93 octane.

expect an order from me for the '08... but it's going to take some time. i'm all out of playing money right now

Thumbs up Re: 2008 STi Cobb AccessPort w/Perrin Mapping

The Perrin map is a winner (according to the butt dyno). The power comes on strong around 3k and pulls HARD to redline. Even 4th and 5th gear pulls are strong. I'm almost scared to put my foot all the way down. I had the Cobb map on for 2 days beforehand and definitely like the Perrin one much better.

Kudos to Jeff. And now I have to watch out for the
