My AP from Perrin with 'custom' high altitude 7500-10000ft 91 Oct Stage 1 map should arrive Wednesday. I will report back. We shall see what the map makes of the industrial effluent masquerading as 91 gas here in high up New Mexico. As far as I can tell they add sand and water to it to make the density come out correctly.

Looks like I'll be ordering a Perrin AP, going Stage I as soon as I get a few hundred miles on my STi.

Perrin, do you have a Stage I CA 91 specific like Cobb?

They do have a ACN 91 oct map. When you order your map be sure to specify what map to get.

I recently got my "custom" map from Jeff Perrin, stage 1 ACN 91.... I've been running it for about 2 days now and but it feels a lot weaker than cobb's 1.01 OTS stage 1 ACN 91... immediately it felt like i lost a bit of hp... haven't really pushed it yet, but maybe it takes a little longer to relearn. will keep it for a week or two more, hopefully it'll improve

day 5 with the perrin map, about 200 miles on it and it feels much more powerful again, maybe a little more low end than cobbs

The only concern i have is it has a tendency to go over 18 psi. I didnt throw any cel but still scares me a little.

I finally got around to trying the Perrin Stage 1 93 rev.3 map that I got when I bought the AP. The car drives completely different than the Cobb map. I'm honestly not sure which one is faster, but my guess would be the Perrin map, at least for my car and my situation (sea level, 94 octane).

The Cobb 1.01 map feels like it has more lag and then the turbo kicks in ... all in one violent wallop. I find the throttle also has quite a bit of "dead zone" making the car somewhat strange to drive. You can floor it, get nothing for a second, then WHAM. I never really noticed how bad this was until I tried the Perrin map.

The Perrin map comes on strong and feels like it pulls longer and smoother; I don't think it is as peaky as the Cobb map and the powerband might actually be a bit wider, which should yield a faster car. It certainly doesn't have that visceral kick-in-the-pants feels that the Cobb map has but its that slightly better topend that could make the difference. I also find the driveability to be better.

The '08 Cobb stage 1 map actually reminds me a lot of my '05 when it had the Cobb stage 2 map, at least in terms of power delivery. If I remember correctly, my '05 on the OTS stage 2 map only made something like 10whp more than stock but almost 40+wtq more and had a very peaky/punchy torque delivery which made driveability kind of "meh". After my Protune, the boost came on quick and smooth and the car pulled longer and harder but felt slower due to not being as peaky. This is what leads me to believe that the Perrin map might actually be a bit faster.

I'm going to do some datalogging, but so far I'm enjoying the Perrin map a bit more. I was a little hesitant because I wasn't sure how I'd like the different SI-drive boost mapping, but so far it's OK. The Cobb map just feels violent and twitchy, almost in a bad way.

Hmmm I might have to revise my statements above. I just datalogged the Perrin map and then reflashed back to the Cobb stage 1 1.00 map (not the 1.01, which I didn't totally like and is what prompted me to try the Perrin map.) The Cobb 1.00 map seems much quicker and that was even with the IAM at 0.8125. I wasn't really happy with the 1.01 map and only switched because I figured it couldn't hurt. The 1.00 map seems much better for my car.

I'll be posting up the Perrin datalogs tonight once I get some time.

I've been running around with the Perrin S2v3 file since I put the DP on. I just switched to the Cobb S2 1.01 yesterday and my initial seat of the pants feel is wow. Midrange feels great. Now I'm wondering if I should switch to the 1.00 since I never threw any codes. I was watching the ignition learned go up as high as 4.5-5 IIRC. I have no boost gauge and the AP maxes at 18psi, so I have no idea which one is boosting higher. Anyhow, looking forward to your logs.

^ The stage 2 map is quite a bit different than the stage 1, so I'd suggest that you datalog before making any decisions. I'm only stage 1 at the moment. I'll post the logs shortly.

Very true. I'm still waiting on the release of the Tactrix cable to log. What Perrin version file do you have? Seat of the pants feel of the Perrin file felt much better than the cobb S1. I do have some concerns about the the way Perrin file had different boost with the SI-drive. I often wondered if this would throw off the learning of the ECU.

Anyhow, I looked at your original S1 logs and I really don't see how that could be improved, but IIRC you didn't log timing?
