how do you calc the hp with AP?

Just my 2cents...I felt the Cobb Stg 1 91 oct was stronger than the Perrin Stg 1 93 oct. I use 92 oct in the Pacific NW. Anybody agree? We should start a poll or separate thread just on map comparisons/results/problems . I know people have mentioned the dreaded PO244 issue in Stg 1 91 oct and Stg 1 93 oct...Has anyone thrown a CEL using the Cobb Stg 1 91 oct (ACN). The map notes say its .5 lbs less boost, this might prevent overboosting issues...anybody agree...opinions

I'd like to know this too. The cobb tune is a little more desireable for street use, and if this ACN map is a little less aggressive, things may work out better.

I wonder if the ECU was pulling timing because of knock from the wrong octane, hence the weaker feel.

I would think that what ever map you load you should run for a week so the ecu can relearn how you drive. That would give each map the best chance for one to judge by.

I am very new to the STI, but IIRC once you freshly flash an ECU, adaptation should start over. Boost should be a static and doesn't really adapt. timing, however should adapt based on knock. If an aggressive map is used with the wrong octane timing gets pulled and will have have to slowly work its way back or just stay low.

IMO, your car will feel the fastest right after you have been flashed. Our TMIC seem to do a nice job from what I can see, so unless your in extreme heat heat soak shouldn't be a reason for it to feel weaker either.

I don't think running a higher octane on a 91 map will make the engine knock unless the tune itself has a bug.

Sorry, what I was referring to his mention of running the perrin 93 oct. on 92 otc. gas. Hence why he thought the Cobb 91 oct file felt stronger.

We have 93 and 89 oct here in Chicago, so I think it would be like me running 89 oct. on a 91 tune. Probably not a good idea in terms of performance.

I orderd my AP from perrin last week and got a call from them saying they were out of stock for a couple days.

well my AP was supposed to be shipped yesterday (monday). But now im having a issue getting a map. Perrin says they only have the 93 available. I want the 92, but i guess i'll have to wait.

maybe they're just upgrading and making a couple changes on it?

Same here, much to my dismay... was hoping the Perrin 92 map would feel faster given the added octane and SI specific boost.

I ran Cobb 91 for two weeks, then Perrin 92 for two (boring) weeks... felt the same as stock. I even reflashed both the Base and Realtime after two weeks of running Perrin's 92 (again to Perrin 92), just to make sure I didn't miss something. This was ~3 fill-ups each map, both city and highway driving, spirited for street driving (accelerating up to speed limit).

Currently running Cobb 91 (stg 1). Looking forward to Cobb Downpipe, Perrin EL Headers, Meth-Auqamist and custom tune.

This may be a newbie question, but is it possible to display live data with analog gauges with the cobb stage 1? It's definitely a feature listed for the AP but I can't find how to access it at all yet.

It looks like most people running 92 oct gas like the cobb 91 map over any parrin map 91 or 93. This is good to know because I will be getting my AP this friday.

Just recently received an AP w/ Perrins 93 oct stg 1 map (and all the Cobbs of course). I am in Boulder Colorado (5400 ft) and can actually get 93oct.

While I dont have my 08 STi yet (June 23rd!), I have been watching this thread with interest.

Anyone know what the latest is on stg 1 93 oct higher elevation maps from Perrin or Cobb? I am not sure I have seen any final word on this.

In some emails with Perrin they noted that the Cobb 93 oct map would be better for my location (until they get one done?)

thanks

I am in SoCal, and perrin sent me their custom ACN 91 octane tune...

It was MUCH stronger all-around than the Cobb map, and boost about 1 psi higher than the Cobb as well. From about 3500-redline, it pulls like crazy...

Thanks Perrin! Great job...
