| Junior STI Driver | i am about to buy an 08 sti and am amazed the low quality of fuel you guys have to deal with. I am in australia and 93 would be the lowest quality fuel available! we basically have 93 (Unleaded regular- 95(unleaded premium) and 98(bp ultimate, shell vortex, and a few others all about 98)... We ***** and moan about how japan gets 100ron fuel at the pumps, but sheesh you guys have it way worse! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

I installed for the first time the Perrin 93 map and no P0244 yet. Perrin definately has a less power but unless I am at the drag strip or rally circuit the Perrin map will do for now. I am not going to change my driving style just to have 1-1.5 more PSI boost and deal with random P0244. | |

| Senior STI Driver | So this perrin vs cobb map issue, perrin is better for reliability? Cobb seems to have a more usuable power band, but this CEL issue gets me worried. I have 92 octane here (with that E10 ethanol). Someone mentioned that the perrin 93 map can be used with a 92 octane. How reliable is this? |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Just ordered my AP from Perrin. I've done a bit of research and it deff. looks like the Perrin-tuned S1 map is more aggressive than the Cobb one. I am curious as to what the stock EGT's are vs. Cobb vs. Perrin. The logs posted on the Perrin site show about 15psi @ redline whereas the Cobb's is at about 13.5psi. Cobbs Stage two with a TBE shows about 15psi. So the question is: At what point will the ECU start to dump in fuel if the EGT's go too high? Cobb claims to not remove any protection, Does the Perrin tune remove or adjust this to allow for a higher EGT or is Cobb just playing it really safe? With all that said, What do the injector times look like running that much boost at redline? Can the ECU even dump enough fuel if things get too hot? Is there any way to tune Fuel pressure? Get more fuel in with shorter injection times? Sorry for all the questions, I coming from the Bosch/VAG engine management and those ECU's have a ton of fail safes built in. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Anyone measured EGT's yet? I don't mind getting a DP, but it has always been my experience that the cat backs don't off much if any gains over just a DP. Also, once you replace the DP are the EGT's accurate? I have been trying to IM the folks over at Perrin without much success. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Loaded the Perrin map this morning after two days of the cobb map. All I can say is WOW. The cobb map was a nice improvement, but the Perrin map is a beast. After farting about trying to do some 0-60's using AP I gave up. I'm not ready to dump my clutch at 5k plus and anything less and it falls on its face. I did do the HP/TQ calculation on the AP and ended up with: 276whp/383tq. I did it in second gear since thats what my G-tech recommends. Any one know what the drivetrain loss on our cars is? I need to start shopping for a DP. Stage 2 is calling me.
