swaybars= grin from ear to ear....especially those 1st and 2nd gear power slides, but bottom line yes a must have modification that is well worth it

I believe they are 25mm, but they are also hollow so that gives them an effective diameter of somewhere around 22-23mm IIRC.

Remember, you have to run the math on hollow vs solid bars or you won't get a direct comparison.

If the Cobb bars are anything like Hotckis (and from the picture, they're not the same), the rates are here.

The Hotckis front bar is like 23.3mm and rear 24.4mm, IIRC. Cobb uses more bends up front (and necks down in diameter at the start of the bends) so it's almost certainly a little softer.

The rear bar I suggest because he's still on stock springs. 24mm in my opinion is too large for stock springs, but with the 22mm adj. he'll be able to bump up to 24mm when/if he gets stiffer springs.

I've got an essay on this subject somewhere around here.
would it be ideal to just get 24mm adj front and rear? you could adj the rears to 22mm but still have the option of bumping up to 24, and even 26.

edit: assuming you have stock springs etc.

It's actually just a rotational stiffness thing. most of the ability of a shaft to resist twisting is in the outside "layer" of material if you will. The inside material of a shaft doesn't do as much to help quell rotation, but a hollow shaft is substantially weaker than a solid shaft of the same size, loaded in rotation..

if you're mathy, and would like to crunch numbers, the formula for shaft twist is
twist (radians) = TL / JG, where T is torque, L is length of shaft, J is polar moment of inertia (gemoetry based, the biggest thing that resists angle of twist, in our application) and G is a material property, think of it as a spring constant.

If we're comparing the two swaybars, it's likely that they will be the same size, of the same material, and have the same forces on them. That takes T, L, and G out of the equation.

J for a solid shaft is π*D^4 / 32 where D is diameter.
J for a hollow shaft is π*(OD^4 - ID^4)/32

Polar moment of inertial isn't the only thing to consider, mind you, but it's the simplest, and will get you most of the way there. Using those formulas you can determine how big the OD of the hollow shaft will have to be, and it's required wall thickness to resist twisting as well as a solid shaft of a specific diameter.

On the nasioc swaybar FAQ it says
Most of the turbo Imprezas come with a 20mm front swaybar and a 13-20 (??) mm rear swaybar.

^ Those are a VERY good combo. Not in a biased way either Awsome rigidity, longevity and fitment is perfect. I highly recomend the KB endlinks also, their just a little noisey. I would alwase recomend sways first, just to get the feel of less body roll. Coilovers will just add to the cornering abilitys in a pleasent way.
