Default One side lower - is it a problem?

The other day I noticed that the gap between the top of the tire and the rear wheel well was more on one side than the other. When I measured from the ground to the highest point of the well opening, it was 25.0 inches on the left side and 25.5 inches on the right. I am on the stock struts with pink springs. The left rear strut was replaced 20K miles ago due to clunking. The right strut has been clunking for about the last 15K miles. Right after installing the pink springs, the wheel well measurement was 25.5 inches. Meaning the newer non-clunking strut side is a half inch lower. There is no noticeable affect on handling. Is this just a settling problem? Is it cause for concern?

Can I keep driving like this until I get the Ohlins?

Mine is the same way, 1/2" lower on the left rear than the right rear. At least in my case, it has nothing to do with the struts -- it was this way with OEM struts and pink springs, and it is this way with Bilstein PSS9 coilovers. Probably it's just slop in manufacturing tolerances, I wouldn't worry about it.

while we are on this topic, would this be normal if one side is lower after corner balancing?

Every sti is higher on one side than the other. I don't know anybody that knows why.

The fender gap is different on each side, but the ride height is not. I'm not sure why Subaru did this; obviously its repeatable on every car.

I could swear that the ground-to-wheel well top distance was the same (ie 25.5 inches) on both sides right after installing my pink springs. Isn't this a measure of ride height? Now the one side is a half inch lower. The only difference being that the low side strut is newer and the high side strut clunks.

I guess as long as this is "normal", than I can live with it.

Measured at full droop, my wheel to fender gap is different on each side (by 1/4 inch). The right and left struts are the same length, so I'm not sure where the difference comes from. Either the strut mounts are different heights or the fender is larger (higher) on one side (I'd bet the fender).
