"it would be next to impossible to have a set of silent coilovers"

I have installed four sets of COs on my various cars in the last few years, and I have NEVER had any popping or clunking noises. I don't tolerate them. I make washers out of either rubber or sticky 3M rubberized step tape; any metal-to-metal surfaces get covered. Top nuts get nylon or teflon washers. Every set has been a struggle at first, but I've always won. The only exception is my T2s have a "squoosh!" noise here and there.

I really wish the ride height was more aggressive<not slammed> but less wheel gap.....especially on the 06 where front wheel gap is def more pronounced.
This set up seems great for a daily driver.

No doubt about it, there is a direct trade-off between performance and looks. You have to prioritize what you want from your car.

Do really think your performance on the current set up (RB320)would be that much better say than my set up (stock struts and RCE V2's).
Not being confrontational just asking because I beleive if memory serves you had the RCE's at one point didnt you rootus??

very true .. which is why I'm going for 18s Unless something extremely compelling convinces me otherwise.

Hammer
I can't (and won't) comment on the RCEs ... but I will say it's an order of magnitude better than stocks w/swifts or OEM.
Are you on the stock bumpstops too? I'm hoping at someone point we'll have some one with stock struts and prodrive bumpstops comment. though I suspect their is room for improvement with that setup as well.
I'm sure rootus has at least 2 cents to add as well.

On the street, or on the track? Even a slammed STI does okay on the street. But driven up near the limits on a road course, yes I do believe there is a noticable difference.

FWIW I had PSS9's before the RB320, and stock struts w/pink springs before that.

Is it too early to ask you to rank those and give them ratings between 1 and 10?

I'm a mod vulture.

Dan,

I need a ride in this set-up immediately! I'd definately love to get a ride in either Andy's or Laurence's vehicle...just to see what it can really do. If I like it that much, I may have to fiddle with my suspension for the third time. Thanks for the great products you provide for our Subie Community!

Regards,
Ryan

It's weird, I love the ride quality and stance with RCE's. My car IS NOT a daily driver.
2 years old and I just cracked 5000 miles.
Maybe I am good for one of those guaranteed trade in programs to get an 08 STI (lol). Anyway, I was on stock struts and Prodrives (not comparing it to your current setup) but the ride was def more commuter friendly. I understand the tradeoff...but when does the suspension and drop really start to negatively effect the suspension on a car that is driven on the weekends only(if that even matters)??

HEy DImeBag: Why should I get rid of these RCE's they are a really nice spring and def make the car handle much nicer than stock or with the Prodrives. For now they are a great improvement for my application (weekend warrior)....any secrets to share??

There's nothing wrong with the RCE V2 springs. I think it's safe to say that the biggest thing holding you back from really being able to compare to the RB320 setup is of course the struts. Bilstein > KYB.

Thanks to Dan @ Prodrive and Garret @ WorldOne, I was likely the first install in Washington. 8 days and 1143 miles later, I have only praise.

I was on the verge of selling my toy because she "WAS" so rough and unpredictable. I had to do something, this was my obvious choice. Prodrive, Bilstein and Eibach are not going to risk their reputations. This was undoubtedly designed to be "the" choice, not just another choice. The only evidence I have to support my assumption is 1100 miles of driving this new and improved version of my STI. Night and day difference I tell you. I could list 10 improvements, dive under braking... much better. Launch... front end seems to only rise 1/2 inch. I'm sure that's a bit of an exaggeration, but not far off. At speed, far more stable, etc.

Many other things as well, but I want to point out something that initially had me dumbfounded. I "had" a door rattle and a dash rattle that I lived with since 10k........... they're gone...! Not almost always gone.... I mean always gone. I couldn't figure this out, how on earth.....???? Near as I can figure, the car previously had an inherent vibration that is now gone. Amazing..........!

This leads me to why I can now keep my car. The feel behind the wheel regarding comfort and feel have improved 250%. Not a joke. The solid yet quiet feel of this car is amazing. I have 39k on the car and it feels far better than new. I had no idea the car was this refined, and neither will you until you drive one of these. I cannot tell you what other setups feel like as I've never driven anything but stock and the RB320 so I'm not your best judge, but please try to drive one and compare for yourself.

Disclaimer: I do not work for anyone associated with Prodrive or WorldOne..... Just a guy who took a chance based on forums and common sense, but more importantly, I had the knowledge of Dan and Garret behind me from the beginning. People who stand behind their names and their products. That is all I really needed. Thanks Guys...!
