Popping in driveline(?) when letting off gas - Page 2

I'm about to go out and get a 32mm socket but want to know if I need to bend the lock back/out in order to try and tighten them...

Or can I just pull off the wheel, slap the torque rench on and tighten it... (without bending the locking tab out of place...)

If I have to bend the locking tab back... how do you do it?

It's easy, just use a ~1/8" punch and hammer, and hammer away! Nothing fancy, just brute force.

I couldn't get the old tab out when removing the nut. I tried a little bit, which just chipped away a little metal, then put an impact wrench on it. It actually came off pretty easy.

Since this has come up again, I'll update. I bought a new lock thing, got it tightened up and never had the noise again. The car has about 6 more track days on it now and all is well.

Well I just got back from the subaru dealership and after spending about an hour looking they think it might be from the top of the spring.

It looks as if the rubber cover has worked itself out of place which is allowing the spring to "clunk" together...

So I'm going to try and compress the spring enough to get that plastic peice back in it's proper place to see if that fix it.

I've had the same sound ever since I installed my Kartboy rear diff bushings.

The "lock thing" is the lock ring you use to lock the nut after it's torqued to keep it in place. We only used a new one on one side and just used the old one on the other side.
