Well, I went in and scrapped all the rubber off and re-applied the grease. It still has the 'memory steer.' I'll give it a few days and see how it goes.

What torque are you applying for the bushing brackets?

I tourqued them to spec. Since I've greased both bushings, the feel and sound has gotten worse now. At this rate, I'm going back to the stock bushings. I'm begining to wonder if I have the wrong bushings or used the wrong grease.

The bushings are blue, (Fulcrums???). The grease is white lithium grease. I couldn't fine the Whiteline bushings at the time, but the people that sold the blue bushings to be said they were made by the company that makes them for Whiteline.

Anyone know what's different with what I have vs. what they've done????

Thanks all,
Rich

Do you have pics showing the blue bushings you are using? So that we can compare them with the Whitelines.

Anything new here Rich? My car hasn't felt the same since the day I did this mod....I'm about to rip the damn things out and torch em.

Question for you...when you put the bushings in, did you slide them all the way around so that the splices were facing toward the pavement? I can't think of any reason this should matter, but I do remember having trouble getting the driver's side bushing slid around, so I left the splice either toward the front or on the side....can't remember.

Any thoughts there? Fabio.....which way did yours end up?

Rob,

I remember the cut in the bushing ended upwards for the square one on the driver's side.

I recall this because I had to roll the bushing.

I didn't use the whole grease packet, though. I just smeared some with my finger on the bar, inside of the bushing, and outside where it contacts the bracket.

On my driver's side, the stock bushing came out pretty clean. The one on the passenger side was a PITA to remove, and had to scrape a little of the bushing residue.

For the passenger side, because it's assymetrical, it's only one way in.

Strange. I've tried pulling the wheel hard while turning to see if I can make the memory steering effect occur, and can't make it.

I installed the Noltec which I don't recommend only because they are just a little wide and the Whiteline fit perfect much easier to install and I used Mobil 1 Synthetic all purpose grease on both and have had no problems lubeing both should help and maybe the alignment might be off after spring install not sure if it would cause your problem though but a thought..

I'm not sure if this is related, but whenever I've worked with sway bar bushings and lube in the past they have used a silicone grease -- NOT a lithium one. I would guess that even if the lithium works, it will wash out quickly over time....
