Default Cobb Stg2 Suspension Package

Does anyone have any reviews and/or experience with this package? Any other suggestions?

This is for an '06 STi that will never do offroad/non-paved racing. Given that I'd like to start on the suspension modifications to achieve greater street/paved performance.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I think you will be better off piecing together your own package from various brands. Take a look at whiteline sways to start. Good luck!

FYI - The Cobb stage 2 package comes with:
- Front Tubular Sway Bar
- Rear Tubular Sway Bar
- Rear Strut Tower Brace
- Rear Sway Bar Mounts
- COBB Sport Springs

So if I piece together my own package it would need to be comparable. Their package is 750 msrp too.

I would say go for it! It's a well made kit, that works great on the car and looks good! The rear mounts are SUPER beefy, but the only drawback is that you are paying top dollar for the useless strut bar... Just get the swaybars and some endlinks bro! It will rock on any surface It's even better with some stiffer springs and an alignment.

So it would be acceptable to get the cobb springs, front/rear anti-sway, and the swaybar endlinks? That would be about as much as their stg2 package.

I've heard and read a lot about whiteline too... I've been all over the threads in this section but no one really points out good setups for a specific purpose. That's where I need advice.

Cobb springs lower the car too much and you will start to see a lot of bump stop banging and maybe even coil bind. Better would be to get a set of pinks or prodrive springs, a set of whiteline sways and some cartboy endlinks. Wait to get coil overs till your struts need to be replaced.

Edit: Almost forgot, best thing you can do is get an alignment, this can be supplemented with some decent top hats to really dial in the camber/caster and toe of the car.

Their swaybars are good, springs are garbage, and the rear strut tower bar won't really help anything.

People seem to be happiest with Whiteline sways F+R, KartBoy endlinks (R, optional F), and JDM Pink/Prodrive/RCE springs. Cobb springs lower too much and are mostly just for looks, not performance. Strut bars are almost worthless and shouldn't be a mod you should worry about at first. I just received Whiteline 27mm adj F, 24mm adj R, and KB endlinks (F+R) in the mail and I plan on ordering some JDM pinks springs or RCE Blacks (depending on reviews and confirmed drop). I've done a fair amount of research prior to deciding to go this route. Cobb makes nice stuff, but it seems to be generally accepted that there are better options when it comes to suspension products, their springs in particular are not a good choice.

Cobb products are generally quite good, but yeah, the springs haven't had very strong support from the community. As you stated in your first post, this is primarily for daily driving right? I see no reason to harshen up your ride with really strong sway bars and high spring rates. The pro-drives are good for springs, and I would strongly consider the hollow cobb sway bars. Their 25mm diameter is the same as the whiteline 22mm bars, only lighter with some more give/flex. Other things that will help your ride are better seats (causes tons of bounce) and any tire other than the RE070 will ride softer. Enjoy whatever you get! Hope we helped!

Yea, I'm cutting and pasting to save time because it seems as though (for some reason) I'm seeing the same posts over and over way more than usual these days....

I wanted to show my list for a price comparison in this thread....

I didn't say that specifically... Yes, it is a daily driver, for now, but I have in planning to build a "street beast" - my statement above was only to point out that I will not be offroading this vehicle. Track, auto-x, street only. I want the vehicle to handle extremely well, plenty of grip, neutral to slight oversteer, etc, etc. I realize each of these areas can be tweaked specifically to the Nth degree, but I would like something that provides the best all around neutral to slight oversteer performance.

Right now, in planning stages, there is no top-end to the power for this vehicle. I'm only beginning the suspension setup, hence this post, and still have a TON to learn about suspension in general - let alone all the other factors of vehicle performance. :-)
