Default Just springs?

Any car I've ever lowered, Ive always bought shocks and springs. I was just wondering if I can buy a set of lets say cobb or tein springs and still use the stock struts. How much life can I expect out of the stockers with lower springs too?

Ideally I'd like to buy coilovers but...I have bills to pay.

Any suspension ideas to lower my ride a little bit preferably in the under $500 range would be greatly welcomed.

a lot of people have added springs w/o replacing the stock struts and haven't had many issues. i've had my jdm pinks on the stock struts for about two years now. everything has been great so far. *knocks on wood* i would suggest adding some hardened top mounts though if you get aftermarket springs.

I'd strongly advise against lowering springs on the stock struts unless you prioritize looks over performance.

i agree with stretch about certain springs (i.e. those that provide an extreme drop) not being a performance upgrade. my opinion is that some springs, although not a perfect match for the struts, will provide some improvement in performance over stock. make sure you research before you decide to buy.

Or Prodrives if you aren't looking for an aggressive drop.

Whats the deal with Cobb springs? They sell springs but not struts, what would a good strut be to go with a set of Cobb or Eibach springs? All though I gues tein coilovers start at 1400 so...with struts I'd be at the same price point.

Thanks for the info

Considering there aren't any normally priced HD struts made for the STI, either you go JUST springs or you go full coilovers. You can buy Ohlin struts for our car, but they cost as much as a nice set of Coilovers anyway...

Besides a 2k set of Ohlins... there aren't any.
