Default Attn: Öhlins Flag Series Coilover Owners/Knowledgeable People

I just assembled my Flags. The only problem I had was that the rears did not come with a bolt to connect the damper to the pillow ball mount. Instead, they have a sleeve. Am I missing something?

The yellow circle shows the missing piece. In place of that, I have an non-threaded sleeve.

The sleeve:

The bolt that I need, present on the fronts

Plus, the rears are shown in the directions as having camber plates. Obviously mine do not, but that makes it impossible to install the little bolt/pin deal that fits on the front. You can see it to the lower left of the yellow circle above (10, 11 & 12). There is no hole to make it through the pillow ball mount, so I am assuming it is not needed back here.

Also- I have 4 sleeves/cylinders/washers that are not pictured in the assembly, but are in the parts list. They would fit on the top bolt, but then it would be too short...

Your insight is appreciated.

I assume the OEM top nut wouldn't work in addition to the sleeve?

I don't think I should need a single OEM piece for this... It could be necessary, but why would it not be included?

Yeah, my Flags came with a couple parts missing.

RaceComp literally worked with Ohlins to take apart a different kit and get me the parts I needed ASAP. Unfortunately, they have to come from Japan.

Good luck.

What they should look like: (just taken today)

I had a Japanese Technical translator explain all the instructions to me.

Looks like I am missing those bolts.

Loot at your rear plates vs. mine. Did you drill the extra 2 bolts, or did yours come that way?

I also did not get the twelve bolts needed to secure the plates to the chassis. Did yours come with the COs?

Thanks.

Mine came that way. You will find that if you get the resevoir locating pins on the wrong side, they will get crushed or bent when you drive the car and the resevoirs will start to drift around.

One of the 6 holes is filled with a bevel-headed screw of the right length that performs that function. The replacement "pin" from Ohlins is $80(each).
5 holes on each rear are used to attach the plate to the pillowball setup.

It did take me a little but to "sort" these as I received them from Ohlins.

But hey... from the price you paid, you can afford to do some "sorting", no? I understand that Clint doesnt stock these. Your dealings will need to be through Clint to OhlinsUSA. Since Nate left Phlins, there isnt really a Flag "expert" there any longer. Maybe they need me!

So- you're saying that you used the dark gray pin in the rear also? the one that goes in the front camber plate channel and locks with a washer?

Also- how do you have a different plate than I do for the rear? I would have thought there'd be better quality control with these things. Lets hope they were assembled correctly on the inside!

Any way you can get a shot of the bottom of the rear plates?

Thanks. I'll owe you.

Wow...this is quite the surprise, considering they are coming from Ohlins...I'd expect more out of a $4k coilover. Oh well, they probably rule the track when they're on. (BTW , I'm just jealous...)

nice!

Good luck with everything! Keep us updated!!!!!

Kind Regards,
Ryan

I am jaleous too. Those things kick a$$. After ZF dampers, probably the best damper out there for our cars.
