Default 01 Type Ra Vs 04 Spec C

Hey guys,
For a while Ive been looking at getting a set of the good Spec C struts and springs (the ones with the blue green dots and better valving), but now Ive found a set up from a 2001 Type RA. The parts numbers on the struts are completely different. Someone said they are valved for quick and low rebound, and are 52mm. Is this true? Should I get them or wait for some never Spec C struts? How do the newer struts compare to the older RA's? Thanks!
Eric
