Actually there was a nice airbag suspension made specifically for the wrx a couple of years ago. It was supposed to easily change from light track duty to daily driving/slammed look at the touch of a button. IIRC it got good reviews but not enough people bought them so they were discontinued.

Also, I see no reason why an air suspension setup would do anything wrong with the awd.

A lot of people will be neg about this though because the car was built for handling and an air ride will detract from that.

Even worse, it ruins the entire car. But no, the AWD part would still work fine.

Actually airbag suspensions are more of a benefit then most other suspension mods. Most ignorant fan-boys who follow trends around here know nothing about air suspensions because they are assuming that a bag of air couldn't possibly help a vehicle handle better.

Infact speed channel had a special on one of their shows about air ride and how a ton of track cars are using it because they can go from show slammed, to super handeling stiff cornering adjustible ride height at the touch of a button. Drag strip, Touring car, every day driver etc.

If I come across the link for the program I will send it to you, but theres many benefits to be had if you have the proper setup.

No. Changing your ride height even a minor amount necessitates an alignment. Changing your spring rate necessitates very accurate shock tunes. And in all cases, progressive springs (like air springs) are crappy for handling. Please tell me how you're working around these issues.

The cheapest traditional coilovers out there let you slam the car easily enough. Anyone going to the track is going to switch to track pads anyway, and adjusting the spring perch or strut body length only takes minutes once you already have the wheels off.

What you saw on the Speed Channel was more of an infomercial. Perhaps you could enlighten us "ignorant fan-boys" on why air suspensions are good?

I'm waiting for Audi to mix the Toureg/Q7 airbag springs, with the A8/tt/Corvette magneto-dampers.

sports compact car had the system on their suby and they said is was OK, but when they parked on a hill the system would pull a wheel up and it would be standing on 3.

Like stretch said, the air bags would screw up any alignment you had, not to mention i have never heard of a race car using airbags.

Yes but in the end that show turned out really lame. Based on what you can draw from the show you can't really tell if the suspension worked well or not cause it seemed like they were messing with different pieces of the car every race and every race was different. I'd like to see it on tried and true race cars and race events. Not including throwing bags on old '67 camaros etc. that run the classic races. Anything is an improvement over thier stock set up.
