group-N's. So it would be the same as non-lowering.

My car actually just has the stock top mounts on there in those pictures. Same ride height as group-n's or non lowering camber plates though.

OK, now that the issue is well known, admitted to, and fixed with distribution pending, I can submit these for public review...

I had been working on this for about 4 months now, since the start of the Auto-X season... What started it was a feeling I would get in sweepers where the front would "bobble" rather harshly, but the rear didn't match it's cadence. In addition, there were many gentle dips that started out gentle enough but got real harsh, real quick.

Putting the car on the rack to make sure I had installed everything right and to check the alignment, I saw something that concerned me...

THIS is the very first pic I took ...

This is the Driver's front, just sitting on ~level ground.

After looking into it further, I found evidence of heavy contact HERE:

What you can't see in this pic, is that the contact is heavy enough to squeeze whatever they use as the coating out. Those dark spots are exposed spring wire.

Finally, after disassembling the Ohlins/RCE combination so I could sell the Ohlins, I found THESE (which I think is what williaty was referring to)...

At the time of disassembly, I measured as much as I could (some I had to do twice), and basically found out that cutting the stops wouldn't matter as the spring's stack height was taller than that. This also meant my Ohlins' shorter stops were equally as irrelevant. With OEM springs, by the time you got the car down far enough to bind them, the stop's rate (even if cut) should effectively either prevent it totally, or make it so that you couldn't tell.

At the time, I thought it wisest to bring it to RCE's attention first, and allow them the opportunity, no matter how many times I was told they were fine and that nobody else complained about it, to consider my argument and perhaps deal with the issue - perceived or not. Obviously, it got more than just consideration.

Credit Schmedit, If I pointed it out first, GOOD. If I didn't and someone beat me to it, EVEN BETTER. I don't care who was the first to point it out and whatnot. For me the point is, the problem was pointed out TO THEM, and they started processing a fix early, before it made front page news. To then find out that they're replacing the fronts of anyone experiencing the bind issue, only cements that effort. That is essentially what I had hoped would happen.

Sure, I could have posted all this 4 months ago when I first started looking into it, but I didn't have ALL the information I would eventually require yet, and it would not have helped anyone if I had done so.

Suppose I had posted it all... That would have started the forum lynching WAY too early. Not only would there NOT have been a fix waiting, and LOTS of folks would have been waving their e-wangs in fury, but I've seen things like this BURY small vendors, and THEN what support would folks be getting?

I could just imagine trying to convince Tein of something like this, should they have had a similar issue...

I'm not gonna say that RCE is the only ones that would step up like this, but there are many that wouldn't have. Sure, IMO, it was a mistake (either by vendor spec or by manufacturer) that never should have showed up in production, but then, that's why they're called mistakes. The mettle is proven in the recovery of said mistakes.

It's enough for me to be confident that I'm going to replace the Ohlins with T2 coilovers at some point.

Now, compare my first pic with Dan's updated spring pic a page or two back...

Huge difference?

The manufacturer overnighted us a set of the Version 2 Yellows for inspection and testing and they are now being tested on my car with excellent results. No signs of coil bind whatsoever...I will be taking plenty of pictures tomorrow. So if you have the V1 Yellows and you have coil bind issues, give us a call with your full name and invoice number (if you still have it) and we will send you out a new pair of the updated front springs.

Good to hear. I can't find my invoice will that be a problem? Or will I still be in your computer? I bought the springs & group N top mounts from you.

Thanks
