IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (3) | I installed some RCE yellow springs on my 06 STi last weekend. Everything went smooth and the car rides great. but something that caught my attention which confused me a bit was, after reading alot about bump stops and people cutting them to make more suspension travel when installing springs on stock shocks, I was kinda stumped when i took apart the strut assembly and i pulled off the black accordian looking dust cover sleeve to see what the bump stops looked like. There were none!! on every single strut I didnt see a bump stop. Unless Im mistaken and its the the top portion of the dust cover that i removed?... Im not sure. Can someone clear this up for me? if that is in fact the bump stop then how the hell would anyone cut somethings thin to begin with. it couldnt have been more than a couple of centimeters thick. Thanx in advance. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

I am coming from a kinder, gentler spring in the Prodrives....but this is my weekend car so I dont have to worry about daily commute. I don't plan on cutting the bump stops(unless my shop says they recommend it). I am curious what your thoughts are just in case you had a before and after review. Thanks, Hammer(ed) |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | The Yellows are just fine or a daily driver. Too many posts by people who have never been on them would have you believe they are only for track cars, but that's just not the case. Very nice ride. On rough roads they can be a bit harsh, but over expansion joints etc. they are nothing to worry about. I've had mine on since November, no issues. And I don't have my bumpstops cut. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | But isn't it better to cut the bump stops sicne there would be more suspension travel? I am about to get the yellows installed but don't know if I should cut the stock bump stops at all... I know rce comp says we don't have to but those that have or haven't what is the difference in ride quaility from keeping the bump stops the way they are compared to cutting them? -Nigel |

| Junior STI Driver | I just had lowering springs installed on my 07 sti yesterday and the guy said he couldn't find bump stops either, this explains why. I thought the car rode fine without them cut though. |

Cut or replace it. Prodrive's bump stop pictured (and recommended). 3) Put more grease around the inside top lip of the strut. Then reassemble. |
