| A.X.D. | if you have your wheels pointed straight ahead, and turn your steering wheel 360° to one side, and read 36° (from the straight starting point to the angle line the inside of your tire is at now from the center line), dividing this into 360° gives you a quotient of 10. that's equal to a 10:1 steering ratio. a 15:1 ratio would yield 24° which means one full turn of your steering wheel provides less angle, which means your steering ratio is less "responsive" than a 10:1 ratio. so your 15 parts is parts of a full circle. you would need to turn your steering wheel 15 times in one direction to complete a full circle at the wheels. |

Steering Overall Ratio 12:1 Turns lock to lock 1.50 http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z13153/default.aspx I don't know about the others though. EDIT -- just found an '06 STI WRC car... Steering Overall Ratio 15.2:1 Turns lock to lock 2.70 http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z...C/default.aspx However, with as much as they change these cars according to the stages they run on, it wouldn't surprise me too much if they change the steering ratios as well. IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | that cant be right, theres no way a stock sti has a quicker steering rack ratio than a wrc car(15:1 compared to 15.2:1) lol, but it got me thinking, i wonder if each driver has theirs customized how they like it? Ive never read anything about the wrc regulations regarding steering ratio. |

I mean, they go through the trouble of making huge changes to the setup depending on how much tarmac is on the stage vs gravel, and so on. It'd only make sense that changing steering ratios might be part of their tuning. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
