Default Pics of the BC Racing BR series non-inverted coilovers

Refer Here for why I bought these. I'm curious and on a tight budget now.

On top of the box are the extenders for the rear seat so I can adjust the damper in-car.

Here they are, well-packed:

Here is a pic of the front camber plate thickness and the adjuster:

big spherical bearing for the cc plate:

top view of the front plates:

about 3.7inches of strut travel before the bump stop.(all of them have this bumpstop)

rear pillow ball plates:

Everything is anodized/powder coated steel or aluminum or composite. the internal piston diameter is 46mm and the front and rear coilovers weigh 12lbs each, a 9lbs saving per corner over the stock strut and spring setup. that's almost 40lbs of (un)sprung weight coming off the car, right?

Each damper is 30-way adjustable and the adjustment knob gives solid clicks each way. I've maxed them out on full hard to put in the following settings tomorrow after the install. (street setting soft are at 25....want medium firmness...15. autox most are at around 5.)

I'm very surprised by the quality externally. Its as good as the Ohlins struts I've seen. Tomorrow, I'll find out what they're like internally when I travel the interstate and roads of PA and NJ and get these aligned. I'm not expecting much at all before anyone flames me, but that strut travel is an immediate improvement over stock.

$939 shipped plus $30 for the extenders.

I decided to go non-inverted so I could get at the adjustments easier since I figured I'd be playing with the settings a bit to try to find any good settings.

One thing is for certain, these are not K-Sports with missing internals or bumpstops. None of these compress by hand either (I think steve mentioned his rear k-sports doing that).

They look exactly like D2 / K-Sport coilovers, right down to the way they're packed in the box. Are you sure they're different? You said these are made in Taiwan... let me guess, Fubu Auto? That's where D2, K-Sports, and many others are made.

here's the address for bor chaunn racing:

No.34-9, Sihde S. Rd., Wufong Township,Taichung County, Taiwan 413.

here's the address for fubu auto parts:

Fu Bu Auto Parts Co., Ltd.
NO. 1, LANE 1070, SEC 2, WUCYUAN W. RD NANTUN DISTRICT 408 TAICHUNG TAIWAN R.O.C.

fubu auto was created in 1997, bc was created in 1999.

different companies by the looks of it. also the lower lockring on the BC's are different than the D2's.

Very good point. I'm not doing 20 laps or anything serious like that though. When I do get into track racing more I will get the T2's.

Here's a summary of a review from over on i-club:

"Street Testing

We have put roughly 1,000 miles of street driving through varied roads in our testing. The results were actually quite surprising. Despite our expectations, the BR series performed quite well. The damping level seems to be work very well for the spring rates with quality dampening even over very rough surfaces. The ride is firm, noticeably more so than stock, but not overly harsh. All but the larger mid corner bumps where absorbed without upsetting the vehicle’s balance. The bounciness or under dampening found in many budget systems was not to be seen in any significant level here. Instead we found ourselves comparing the BR series to several more notable and more expensive mid levels systems such as the Tein Flex Mono which would probably be the most direct competitor in terms of our overall impressions. For such a budget minded price, we can think of few systems that would have noticeable advantages without spending significantly more.

Track Testing

Previously the test car for this review was running a higher end more track oriented system and alignment (3.25 camber front, 2.5 rear). For this testing, the spec were set as close as possible with 2.75 front, 2.5 rear. Testing took place on the 12 hour course of Sebring Raceway, known for it’s rough surfaces. Again as an inexpensive street oriented setup expectations were not high, although our results on the street were promising. Again, we were surprised by the ability and consistency offered by the BR series. While lap times were slower by approximately 2-3 seconds from the previous setup over the 3.7 mile course, the impression were quite good. After several tests, we left the dampers at +8 front, +10 rear for what seemed to be the best results. The majority of time seemed to be lost in the few very high load, high speed, rough sections such as turn 17 where exit speed was down slightly. While there was an advantage with a more track oriented (and more expensive) coilover setup, the BR series proved worthy for occasional track events which fits perfectly into their design goals and target consumer."
