Hi, I'm new to this site (which is the best STi site I've ever seen BTW!) and I have a question about the US Potenza tires that come with the STi. They appear to have a very different tread pattern to the RE070 tire we get on our cars in Australia. Could someone please post a photo looking front on at the tire 'cause I'm very curious...

My next question is about 'pinks'. We don't have them in Oz and I'd like to know what all the fuss is and are they worth tracking down.

Many thanks

Browndog.

As for how good the pinks are, I don't have an STi yet but check out the "Handling" forum here and read some of the reviews. They sound like they are a perfect combinations of ride-height and stiffness for daily driving and some track use.

browndog, STi "pinks" are availible from your STi dealer along with other STi products to enhance handling etc... where will you be buying your STi from as there is no STi dealers in the ACT?

My experience with STi dealers have not been good and there are only 4 or 5 STi dealers in the country. There is not one in the Australian Capital Territory. They appear to offer standard STi suspension parts to the WRX owner who wants to upgrade to STi specs, braided brake lines, wheel nuts, STi radiator caps etc. The amount of STi gear available to the rest of the world is impressive but we in Australia appear to miss out on most of it (unless we import it ourselves from retailers around the world).

Thanks to the person who posted the link to the potenza. They are different to ours and I would love to get a set. If anyone has ideas I'd love to hear them.

i have a friend in QLD who bought a new STi and had it fitted with just about everything from the STi catalogue. The STi parts you speak of thats availible for WRX are the same as for the STi. eg: the STi springs which are the pinks are abit lower then the factory STi springs. Anyhow there is only 5 STi dealers like you said, two in Sydney, 1 in melbourne (which is an awesome complex) 1 in Brisbane and 1 in tassie. I can not remember which dealer it was that send me the list of parts because I emailed them all as I wanted to source parts from Australia to bring here to USA. By the way the Aussie Spec STi wears Bridgestone Potenza RE040's which is why they look different

I'll trade my wheels and tires for a Toyota 1FZ-FE with 5 speed manual gearbox and transfer case from a FJZ70 Land Cruiser!
