| Junior STI Driver | My wife and I currently live in Florida so needless to say I know nothing about driving in the snow. We are soon relocating to Colorado and I am wanting to lower my 07 STi about 1-1.5 inches in the front, and whatever the rear drop would be with that set of springs. I want it to be noticeable mostly visibly since I don't race or abything. My question is, am I goingn to have any problems driving in the snow as far as clearance? I know it depends on how deep the snow is, but what is the most I could lower to still drive the car before I would have any problems? Thanks in advance. This ad is not endorsed by this member. It's a pretty simple equation, having enough ground clearance will be dependent on how high the snow level is???? IMO Lowering your car is completely stupid if you are doing it for looks, and will in turn loose ground clearance that you will need. Colorado gets a lot of snow. | |

I think 4 snow tires will mean more than an inch of ground clearance so make sure they are on your list. When the snow is deep enough to catch on the front lip it sprays up over the hood and windshield – way cool |

| Grassroots STI Racer | I love my PRODRIVES. They lower it just a little bit but not too low, just perfect imo. And i can run a lip during the winter. The pic in my sig shows how much of a drop, and they weren't settled yet. |

We got a lot of snow this past winter, but despite that, road crews did their best to keep the major streets clear. So even when we got a major dump, I didn't find snow clearance to be a problem because it was either plowed or hard-packed. Now if you live in a less populated/remote area where there isn't a lot of traffic, you may have more difficulties with really deep snow. For some, "difficulties" in deep fresh snow are one of the pleasures in life . I was able to navigate an uncleared parking lot with snow up to the undercarriage (above the exhaust pipe) with no problems. |

I want to drop just a tad and Have a cai. But worried about sucking up snow and all the huge dips we have out here on the worst roads in the world. |

| Junior STI Driver | Thanks for the responses....I know that when we were in Colorado for 12 days last month(Conifer) looking at some houses that the driveways were kinda crazy!!! I know that it's relative to how much I lower the car...but I guess I just also wanted to make sure that I wasn't the only car out there lowered..Lookin like a fool! Thanks |

| Senior STI Driver | Just take your lip off during the winter. +1 for snow tires. I learned the hard way. I thought the stock all-seasons would save me. Don't get me wrong, the 4WD was beautiful. But the stockers suck. Thankfully, I didn't go GTA on property, cars, or people. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I live in Summit County, CO, and I have Prodrive springs on my 05. I think they are dropped about 1/2", and I have never had a problem with clearance. Occasionally, I will drag on snow on the road, but it has never been a problem. A friend of mine lives in Winter Park (CO), and he is dropped about 1" on his 04. I do not think he has had a problem, either. In general, our snow is fairly light, and the plowing tends to be good. That said, good tires are essential. If you like all seasons, you might want to consider getting ones that are still snow rated. (I have had excellent luck with the Nokian WR's.) Good luck, J |
