Hey im going to japan to visit and meet my relatives for the first time (yea im full japanese and never met any of my relatives nor went to japan)and was wondering, instead of buying cusco zero 2r here, would products be cheaper in japan? If so I am getting Racing Gear coilovers. Can anyone give me help? where in japan can i get coilovers and car parts? and how much diffrence is it?

Thanks

P.S. Besides suspension are all the other products in general Cheaper, say like Work wheels

Get me some syms ball joint extenders. thanks.

EDIT: Japan has a lot of innovative and quality parts, but IMO their coilovers aren't it. Although....i do hear good things about Aragosta, but i'm not really sure. They have a LOT of stuff that we haven't seen over here that are much cooler then their coilovers. Nagisa (sp?) lateral links, lots of different ball joint + tie rod extenders, etc. That's the stuff that i'd be most interested in.

I went to Japan in Jan and everything is more expensive. I didn't go to an auto store but I wouldn't expect to save much there.

Have fun!

IMO Japanese coilovers are made for Japanese roads. Once you're there you'll know what I mean. They're smooooooth.

if you go to a regular retail out let you will probably be paying higher after you factor in tax and getting it back here.

hit up the 2nd hand places if you want inexpensive goodies.

When I priced out stuff in Super Autobacs in Kobe, the prices were almost dead on what we'd pay here, a little more with the tax. You can find some good used stuff or auction stuff, but shipping it back can be really spendy unless you have a shipping hookup. Now I don't ***** so much about how much JDM stuff can cost having tried to beat the system and import my own gear. After hemming and hawing about getting stuff over here on the cheap, I think japanparts.com is a pretty good deal.

That's exactly what I was told before I went. Me and the Mrs ate lunch in Ginza (rodeo drive of tokyo) and spent the equivalent of $25 USD. Our most expensive meal in a 5 day span was 75USD. It can be done on the cheap as long as you are willing to try the smaller local restaurants.

"some" roads are smooth, but the ones in Narita to Shinkuku are nothing near smooth. I rode the airport limosine which seemed to have the thinnest tires on the planet as I felt every bump on the road.

-to the OP, no you won't be able to get work wheels off the shelf. Even Autobacs has to order it from WORK. Even if you were able to get a pair, I'd think you'd have a hard time trying getting away with paying overweight charges and customs duties at the airport. I know of people getting things through but "mums the word".

Japanparts replies;

typically our Website pricing is at; or less than, Japanese retail

Shipping out of Japan is prohibitive if you're not a "frequent flyer" and shift a lot of freight like we do

We *also* offer IWSTI members discounts on parts, and arrange 48 States delivery; our freight pricing is competitive, we have containers leaving Tokyo every 10-15 days by Sea to Long Beach

We don't deal with Used parts

PM for a quote for anything you should want from here

MW ... 3 questions...

1. Do you know what ARAGOSTA means in Latin?
2. Do you know what Kreeft means in Dutch?
3. Do you know the name of the founder of AST?

Aragosta means Lobster and Lobster is Kreeft in Dutch.

Aragosta products are made by AST (or made of parts supplied by AST).
Therefore, IMO ... Aragosta should not really be considered as JAPAN parts
