"Koni Single adjustable strut or shock 1198spgc" It could just be that 1198 is an abbreviation. :dunno: john

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | John - that is very strange. A google search of 1198spgc finds only one hit and it from Ground Controls home page. It states: "Koni Custom Valved strut insert. Shorter than standard insert, single adjustable damping from top of strut.Uses standard Koni gland nut or GC gland nut, cannot be used with Bilstein or Sachs gland nut." It sounds like you got a custom valved strut. I think I'll start by emailing GC and seeing what is up. |

| Professional STI Racer | Please excuse my ignorance Stretch but if one were to follow the "staged" path that you included in your first post wouldn't the said person be buying the GC housings twice (once for the stock strut and again when upgrading to Koni SA/DA strut inserts)? The reason I ask is because I'm about to start modifying my STi's suspension, starting with TiC bushings and Cobb sways, then springs shortly there after. I'm coming from a 00 2.5RS and the GC/Koni combo is widely used with that chassis with great success. Now that I know I can use the same combo for my 05 I'm considering it but I don't know if I want to buy the housings, struts and camber plates at the same time. |

You missunderstood me. My laugh was in reference to the guy asking about what GC meant when Ground Control products were in his signature. Now I realize he wasn't asking he was stating a fact. Jokes on me. Anyway, I'm a big fan of GC, I visited their shop years ago and have used their products several times. I would have gone this route instead of the bilsteins had I been aware of it.

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Which now begs the question... Stretch, if you have GC housings and their front Konis, but used WRX housings and standard Koni inserts out back, don't you now have a mis-matched set of Konis? I mean, the GC ones are custom-valved and the OTS inserts have stock Koni valving. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
