IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Splash- where are you getting those numbers from? The SA and DA housings are $152.50 each. Anorexic- they work with the stock tophats, so I would assume they're compatible with all the various camber plates, too. This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Junior STI Driver | ...just thought I'd pipe in and clear a couple of things up. The housings are $152.50 each regardless of what inserts you use. Now, think about the strut brace thing...in order for your towers to flex enough to affect the handling of the car they would have to flex the firewall. Think about it, they're stuffed in a corner, where can they go? just my two cents and thanks for all the props guys! Mark |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | I think Mark said the SA's work well to 600lbs. I'd expect the DA's to do at least that, but above 500lbs is getting into "too stiff for the car" territory (if you believe all that spring frequency stuff). |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Ah, OK. The breakdown of how I got those prices was a little more complicated. I was suggesting for a Koni SA setup to run WRX inserts in the rear, so you'd only need two housings from GC. Koni's built for WRX inserts cost the same as regular Koni SA's, but the housings are built from old, worn WRX struts. They can be had for nearly free, and using them saves you $305 (since that's two GC housings you don't need to buy). Anyway, for a full GC setup, the cost of the struts is $159 each, and the housings are $152.50 each. Then, of course, it's $400 for the springs and sleeves. To run a Koni DA setup, you can't run WRX inserts in the rear, so you must buy four GC housings. The Koni DA's are $280 each and the housings are still $152.50. I guess the way I wrote the first post was a little confusing. |
