Default anti-lift

Does anyone have the Perrin Positive Steering Response Kit. Is it a pain to install? Ive had it in my trunk for a while and wondering if I should get in gear and put these things on. Can you feel a big difference with them? Just wondering if its worth it. Thanks

The Whiteline version is more popular here. It was their idea and others, including Perrin copied them. Its similar, but as I recall the Perrin had some issues with clunking. Search on ALK and you will find tons of good info including impressions, and installation comments. If your Perrin verison is not the one with the issues, its highly recommended.

Cool, thanks. I will look into that. They just seem like a pain in the a** to install. Plus Im going to have to pay for a alignment after I put them in! Bummer for my wallet!

Whiteline's ALK is not simply better due to its popularity. They are superior because the bushings are actually angled as opposed to Perrin's PSRS & GT Specs ALK where the bushing was just stamped in w/o angle.

Did you get an alignment after you installed it? Does this affect bump steer at all? I have horrible bump steer! Anyone else? My suspention is stock except Front and rear Perrin swaybars. Ive had this problem before the Swaybar install... I figured this kit might help. I will have acess to power tools so I think it should go well. I was just wondering about the drive from the shop to and a alignment shop. Thanks fo the input, very very useful!

^^^ You'll need an alignment after the ALK, yes. Bumpsteer, no. Changing caster alot (ALK changes it by a small amount) , or significantly lowering the car will give you more bumpsteer. If you are stock, except sways, you may not be experiencing bump steer.

Feels great after the ALK install though, worth the time although I didn't do it myself. I don't think I want to do all that in my driveway.

I dont know, I hit small bumps and my car wants to take quick turns left or right. Thats bump steer, correct? Mostly at low speeds. Its kind of a pain fighting the steering wheel all the time. Maybe its the tires cuz, of the side wall. TIMELESS how much did it cost for you to get them installed? If it out wieghs the pain for installing them myself I might go that route! Thanks again!

Though the sentance includes both "bump" and "steer" as in steering wheel, techically what you feel may not be bump steer. Bump steer is amount change to the toe setting that occurs as the suspension moves to its compression or rebound extreems. Ideally, there were would be zero change in the toe angle as the suspension compresses and rebounds. But suspension geometry is an exercise in compromise. Some amount of bumpsteer is permissable given the achievement of other suspension goals. Typically it only gets bad at the extreem ends of the travel, so its less likely to impact most driving conditions.

What you are describing sounds more like the steering wheel kickback when you hit an obstruction or road imperfection with one wheel and not the other. The imbalance of pressure on the two tires causes more drag one side, which is felt in the steering wheel. A simlar thing would happen if you had a radical difference in tire pressure between the two front tires. The car would pull to one side.

The following two charts (courtesy of Nick) show the how the toe is affected by suspension travel on a stock STI (an 04 iirc) vs an STI with more caster. As you can see, the toe changes are fairly small until you get out to the extremes. You can also see the affects addtional caster causes on bumpsteer. Note that the 07s have less caster, and will likely have less bumpsteer.

Thanks for the info. I guess thats just how the car drives. My tire pressure are the same for the front. I guess I wil have to deal with it and keep both hands on the wheel! Thanks again!!

You sure it's the car and not you? It's easy to inadvertently steer the car when you go over a bump... as your whole body moves, you might be moving the wheel a tiny bit...
