6gun racing sells beefy bearings for the front, but nothing for the back yet.

Will the 6gun bearings last significantly longer?

I think they are the same as the 05 bearings, just made to fit an 04 knuckle.

Is the problem the bearing or the hub? I have experienced brake problems that I believe are brake pad knock back, which is caused by flexing of the hub. Will replacing only the bearing fix this problem? How big of a deal is it to replace the hubs?

I have the brake knock back also. I believe it is "normal" for the car, but I have also heard that the pad knock back is also a symptom of bad bearings. I guess going to the 6gun 5x100 with '04 strut purch is probably the way to go if the car is going to be on the track. Atleast they will be easier to change that way.

Well i think all the sti knockback slightly, 04's just do it more...and it gets worse and worse with abuse.

6GUN sells the 04-->05 hub conversion kit. You'll be using 05 hubs and will need an 05 front strut perch and new rotors and new wheels. Unless they've released new 5x100 kit with stronger hubs that im not aware of.

I just finished this conversion yesterday.

The sell (or soon will be selling) a front hub that is 5x100 but has the strong bearings. I think he mentioned it on NASIOC, but it isn't on their site.

Exactly...the wheel options make it worth it.

And there's no rear super bearing upgrade for the 5x100 STIs yet (let alone one for my WRX )
