I have an 04 as well. I wouldnt go coilovers if i didnt need their functionality. Go with some lowering springs if you just want the look and the increase in performance that a spring can give. There are several different optoins as far as the drop goes.

If you want a better ride, i believe members above have mentioned the strut options.

To get a worthwhile coilover you'd wanna spend 2K+ or ~1.5K used.

RaceComp:

As per my suspension advisors (yourself included) :-)

please pm me to see how to make this setup happen

-WRX Struts
-Koni Inserts
-Group N hardened Strut tops (optional but highly recommended)
-Prodrive Springs, RCE Springs, JDM Pinks (basically your "height" factor for the car is chosen here...If I had to choose I would buy the RCE springs that drop similar to Prodrives)

***** the springs that lower the car the most will be my choice, obiously not scraping the ground but low enuff that i can put on a front lip and not worry too much about it *****

thanks......

I do not know where this came from but in Kansai the roads really are not that good especially a lot of the mountain roads. they are horrible bumpy and will make you puke on most of these coilovers anyways due to the bounce they induce.

Perhaps its different in other regions but all in all most roads in japan are no better or smoother than roads in america
