Ok so I ordered some Tanabe springs and just went to the local family auto shop to see what he would charge to install them, he had some computer program that showed the difficulty of the job and approximate hours to complete... He didn't have the 2004 model info in there yet so he used 2003 WRX and to change four springs the program said it would take around 3-4 hours and cost around 750 including alignment?!

And I've seen all the threads about warranty and stuff but just to be clear when springs are installed will any subaru dealership not service your car under warranty? I mean will I have to "prove" my case to them just to get them to service it?

I have the same springs waiting for install; There's a few installation links online, I think scoobymods has one. While you're in there do the strut mounts too. As for warranty, dealers don't have to honor it with aftermarket springs installed. It's really a case by case basis - if you have an engine problem, it'd be tough for a dealer to deny you because you have aftermarket springs. Still for that reason I'm going to get my struts fixed (clunking) before installing the springs...

No manufacturer can legally deny you warranty service for failures unrelated to modified or aftermarket parts. The problem is that if they say it IS related, then you have to prove somehow that it is not.

The dealership would not work on my klunk because I modified the suspension, however the mechanic did go for a ride and diagnosed the problem for me so that I could go back to Suby Specialities and get them to fix it.
