IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | That's funny. The same thing happened to me today when I went to lunch. It's the dccd, don't know why it does it but that's what it was. I was fooling with mine and had it towards the rear and it felt exactly like I was running over something. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2002 Trader Rating: (0) | In my experience leaving the DCCD in Auto during low speed maneuvering is the best way to avoid those kinda noises. I believe it's happening (espec. in 50/50) 'cause the diffs are trying to spin the wheels at the same RPM, and since you're turning the diff is "complaining". I've gotten weird noises and had the rear end seem to "bind up" when doing what you describe. I seem to recall something somewhere saying NOT to use the 50/50 unless you're on a "loose" surface (wet/snowy/dirt), but that may be my imagination. I'd be somewhat hesistant to try and recreate those noises, as I can't imagine it's beneficial to your differentials...but that's somewhat speculatory. |

Just toggle over into auto when you are parking on a dry surface. On snow or ice it won't happen because the wheels will slip before the clutch. | |
