IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (6) | Can anyone give me an objective reason why NOT to buy these BC Racing Coilovers (Inverted Strut Model) for my '04 STi? Keep in mind these will be used primarily for spirited weekend driving and (most importantly) autox. Thanks, Jake NOTE: I am having a hard time finding (searching forums) for good (non-bias) information on them. Part of the problem is the forum search engines refuse to recognize "BC" because it is such a short phrase. ![]() ![]() ![]() Item Description: So you want an even higher level of performance suspension? for the 02+ wrx/04STI we offer inverted coilovers for your subarus. features- front camber plates front and rear pillowball mounts inverted struts front + rear 46mm piston, 53mm body 8k front 6k rear spring rate rebuildable factory brake lines attachable 30 adjustable settings 1 year warranty! IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | I'm looking at these too. The standard answer short of a review where someone actually drives with them is; a cheap coilover, ie $1000 range will have suboptimal valving. Valving is what seems to separate the good from the bad. Of course I've wondered if they could be "revalved"..... Also, some info here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1085379 I should be getting coilovers in the next month or so... ~Karl |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (6) | I think BrewpupBeaver just put these in his 06 a month or two ago. A couple of members have them. BC makes the Megan's (sp?) coilovers, BTW. I think they're roughly the same component. A good way to get better results is to use the advanced search feature, and set it to search all posts - then tell it to only search the specific forum (in this case, the Suspension forum). I put in BC Racing Coilovers as my perameters and I found three or four threads that mention them. But I figured since you wanted real feedback, I'd tell you who had'em. PM Brew and see what you can find out. |

The adjustability is laughable, you can't correctly "tune" the suspension of a damper that adjusts both jounce and rebound at the same time. Not to mention the utter lack of droop travel, which is huge in autox, especially. |

Also, is every coilover that comes without seperate rebound and "jounce" adjustablility is incapable of a competitive tune?

I would much prefer a single adjustable setup (set bound, adjustable rebound) to a "dual adustable" (via one control) setup. I wouldn't say that they're incapable (Could you pass a calculus test with a cell-phone calculator? Maybe, but probably not.)... but they aren't exactly the tools for the job.

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (6) | Ok, so just to clarify: The adjustment knob on the BC racing c/o doesn't simply change rebound, it changed rebound and ?what? Also, I'm still very unclear how it is known that droop travel is no good on these BC racing c/o's. They have a lower perch height adjustment so I kind of figured that maximum travel can be utilized even when lowering the vehicle. Last edited by S1MPSONS; 04-05-2007 at 06:33 PM. |
