I would get Ohlin Fixed Perch struts, springs of choice (RCE, Pinks, Prodrive), group-n tops, ALK, and sways. Should improve ride alot and REALLY improve handling! Talk to TiC, RCE, Gruppe-S, etc to get all the parts.

Seems to me that everyone has already stated the "best" DD set-up

Ohlins for the win!

Just like everyone else has stated...

JDM pink springs, prodrives, or RCE springs
Ohlins fixed perched struts
Group-N F/R Top hats or Camber plates up front with rear group-N top hats
Whiteline F/R sway bars 27 adj front and 24 adj rear
Kartboy Endlinks
Alignment
Recaro speed seats

That should be good for an ideal DD set-up. You will love it!

another alternative to the Ohlin Fixed Perches is Koni inserts with WRX strut take-offs. You have an 04 and have the availability to do this and for what it's worth is a cheaper alternative with similar results to the Ohlins. Just a bit more time consuming as you have to "mod" the struts.

Good luck!

Do not buy coilovers then. Coilovers are not going to be any less harsh than the stock struts and springs. Less bouncy, yes. Harsh, no. Not to mention the noises you will most likely encounter with coilovers.

Stick to the fixed perch units.

Here is Racecomp's recommendation based on your needs:

Ohlins fixed perch struts
Group-n front and rear strut top mounts
RCE Springs
Whiteline 27mm front sway bar
Whiteline 24mm rear sway bar
Kartboy front and rear endlinks
Whiteline ALK (Sport)
Whiteline Steering Rack Bushings (since you have an 04)
Whiteline Camber Bolts (to achieve -1.5 front camber)

Now since having released the RCE Tarmac II coilovers we have found that the 350/300 spring rates on them are very daily driverable. These are another great option for those wanting a little more performance and/or ride height adjustability. Pair the T2's with RCE lowering camber plates and you have a great daily driver/occasional track day car.

You don't need the camber bolts for the front on a '04 to get -1.5

I bought an 04 about 3 weeks ago, and the strut clunk is driving me crazy !! Anybody know if changing the suspension will get rid of the clunking noise?

I read the 25 page strut clunk thread...and know that the dealership will replace em, but only to have the clunk come back after 3 months. I want a permanent fix...is this the way to go?

Remove the struts and re-grease the insides. It's pretty easy and very effective long-term. Spraying the shafts with lube is very temporary at best.
