Default cusco zero2r's making noises...

I installed zero2r's on my car about a month ago and today I noticed a clicking noise (something like that) coming from the back right and left sides. I checked all of the bolts and they are on tight. I have them set on 5. Does anyone know what this might be? Is it suppose to make that noise?

I'd be curious to know if this is common with these coilovers. I'm thinking about picking up a set soon. Other than the noise, how do you like them? Is the ride a lot stiffer than stock?

I LOVE them... a whole lot stiffer than stock... they are amazing! Pretty bumpy when you are driving slow, but you get used to it... or I did.

Let me guess. The sound is only there when you drive slow? I have the Zero2e's and the same thing happens when I drive slow. Noise is gone when I am up to speed. I have been told a few times that it is a characteristic of the Cusco rear pillowball mount.

you've got a pillowball mount...it is going to emit some level of noise

that being said, level 5 is entirely too stiff to be riding around on everyday - set the front and rear at 3, you'll be far happier

K... thanks!! I just remember someone saying on another thread that cusco zero2r's should not make any noise. Its hard to distinguish who knows what they are talking about on here, and who doesn't.

that was me

It should be free of any clunks, but at the same time, you have to have a reasonable expectation of some non-oem type noises, as you have a metal to metal bearing

Is it normal for me to only hear the noises from the rear and not the front as well?? I will assume the noise is normal seen as though I've checked everthing and it all seems to be ok.

Smear a good finger glob of Marine grease(blue/non water soluable grease) on the pillow balls f/r. Drive around 50 miles and look at how the grease is pushed out of the eye. Then, resmear around. You're hearing the metal on metal clank of dry pillow ball/balls. No big deal as 1st smearing of grease is good for numerous resmears. Make sure to frequently strip/regrease in roadsalt conditions. I used these coilovers(Zero 2R's) on my old REX for 30K miles. I am getting these for the 06STi . When kept dry, the pillowballs will actually wear out rapidly allowing the eye loop to widen on the ID and the ball to misshape.
This is common on any Pillow ball top coilovers which are WELL worth it over non pillow ball tops.
Take care of your Balls!
