Every set of coilovers I have ever owned has made noise. It is a part of having a modified car. Play music louder, hehe.

I used these coilovers(Zero 2R's) on my old REX for 30K miles. I am getting these for the 06STi . When kept dry, the pillowballs will actually wear out rapidly allowing the eye loop to widen on the ID and the ball to misshape.
This is common on any Pillow ball top coilovers which are WELL worth it over non pillow ball tops.
Take care of your Balls!
I've never handled coilovers before. What exactly are you referring to when you say "the eye"?

Also, has anyone successfully run these for track or autox? I know its mostly the driver but has anybody placed high up in a competetive class running Zero2R's?

quite coilovers != coilovers with pillow-balls

I'll try the grease idea... on really wet days my rears quiet down alot. Maybe that was the issue. These are $$$$$ Ohlins, so Im a little disappointed by the noise. THen again, the performance has been so shockingly good and versatile, I dont want to mess with success.

I won the 2006 STU Pro Solo National Championship running Cusco Zero 2R's. They were set 5 up front, 4 in the rear.

To the OP - check your top nuts are tight enough. Sometimes they work loose and that will cause some clunking as it introduces play into the top mount.

WOW! Congrats!

What spring rates are you running with these? Do you ever drive on the street? How does it feel?

Any down sides to these coilovers you can to discuss? I assume you are satisfied with your decision to run Zero 2R's considering you won the National Championships, but just in case you have any regrets I would like to know.

They were 10K/8K.

No downsides other than they are single adjustable and not rebuildable in the US.. The car is not a daily driver, but they were very comfortable on the street.

I say "were", since I recently switched to Zzyzx coilovers. They have the Koni DA 8611 shock which is tough to beat for AX.

Good job blkwrx!

I am the only DOT tired car to get under 1 minute at Horsethief mile (including vettes, vipers, lotus, M3, EVOs, all of the "Touge" shootout cars, etc)

I believe that the Zero 2r's are the best shocks in the sub-$4k price range (actually about $2k). I dont think its fair to compare them with high end $10k-plus CO's. I believe that $2k on Zero 2r's and the remaing $8k on other important items will get you a much better car than $10k on CO's alone. BTW, I have a total of about $3k in my suspension and I will have about another $1k when I'm done.

As for the noise, I got none from the CO's. I do get random noise that I believe are from the rear diff.

Does the noise happen when the shock changes direction or only when getting heavily loaded? We need more info and of course, check all fastners etc.

i notice that mine spring is skipping when wheels are turned. is that mean because the pillowball needs grease?

the downsides of the zero 2r
-adjustable knob on the bottom, not very convient
-bit stiff for daily driving..for that regards, set mine at 1 Fr, 1 Rr

other then that, it's perfect

i feel that at 1 setting. the car feels too bouncy.
i think 2 or 3 is perfect. it matches the spring rate much better

You're prob right about the settings.

I let my 6'5" buddy drive my car to LA, he hit a big bump on the 405 and actually banged his head really hard on the cieling Hes 2 goodto wear a belt and the stock seats are very springy) I use #5 at the track. #2 or #3 is prob a better compromise.

I would tend to disagree with that, but I don't want to start an argument
