hi i have 04 Sti
i want really really soft suspension like other sedans??
is there any way to make that happen??
i drove 06 sti few times and it feels like 06 sti is softer then 04 sti
if its true, how do i make my 04 like 06??
please help

There is nothing unusual about the STI's suspension design that prevents it from having nice ride quality. You can run the same springs, dampers, and tires as a normal Impreza for near-normal Impreza handling and comfort.

In fact, that's probably the cheapest thing to do: buy WRX spring/strut take-offs. Really, it's the softer, longer-travel WRX struts that will account for most of the ride quality improvement, but the softer WRX struts cannot support the stiffer STI springs. Thus...

Since you have a 2004 STI, your options for aftermarket struts are pretty huge. I'd recommend you get either Koni or Tokico D-spec struts. Either will make a tremendous improvement in ride quality, and since they're both adjustable, you may soften or stiffen the car as needed. These premium dampers will actually improve the handling of your vehicle even at their softest settings because the valving is more sophisticated than an OE damper. Good dampers make all the difference- stay away from cheap ones.

Since both Koni's and D-specs are twin-tube struts, you'll likely gain suspension travel with both (I know you do with Koni's), which means you'll absorb large bumps much better. The better valving will take care of the small bumps. The OE STI springs are not soft, but when paired with good dampers, should feel totally acceptable even to most wives.

If you want to experiment, one quick (and free) improvement may be to trim your stock bump stops- though I'm not sure if the 2004's ride on 'em the way 2005's do.
