No problem I was thinking of a similar comment when I typed it....

So wait to clear things out a bit....

Front Camber Bolt goes to the lower bolt and with the cam facing out for more camber...

Rear goes on the top bolt and with the cam facing into the car for more rear camber and out for more positive....

I keep second guessing myself, so I guess I'll just ask:

Does the bolt go into the strut just like pictured above?
(With the SPACER BLOCK next to the NUT?)

I might have the spacer block on the other side...

Just want to make sure before I go in for an alignment.

Yup, otherwise it would be over the cam portion thereby defeating it...

I re-positioned the camber bolt last night to the position above and started playing with it...

The damn thing just kind of spins freely in the top hole! I'm thinking to myself, how is this going to adjust the camber? Maybe it's because the suspension wasn't loaded at the time I was turning it?

I checked and it does say "114" on the head of the bolt, so I'm confused.

Be sure to have the lower bolt loose. The camber bolt is really skinny...try manually positioning the camber by pulling really hard on the brake disk...2 people best or use a jack angled to push the disk and tighten the camber bolt some. When you turn the camber bolt you should then be able to see the disk move slightly thru the camber range...When you get it where you want it tighted the crap out of it and then the lower bolt.

Nice.

I had to undo the bottom one and the strut pushed itself into position. Then I could turn the camber bolt with a wrench and adjust what looked to be about 1.5 degrees either way.

Thanks again Karl.

No sweat...funny how the little things like this are really a PITA! Hope it works out for you....I certainly like the way mine work in the front.

Sigh.

so I went in for the alignment. The tech started turning the camber bolts in the rear with no effect on the camber.

What I don't understand is that when the car was off the ground and the wheels were off, I could adjust the camber by turning the bolts. But if the suspension is loaded (like on the alignment machine), it's a whole different story.

I'm stumped.

When I took mine in I told him not to mess with the camber but to tell me what the camber was....It was like -1.8 in one in -1.7 in the other....I said close enough...I wanted close to -2 in the front. Simply turning them did nothing to the camber unless I pulled on the disc. Since the bolts are so skinny they don't seem to do much if you just loosen them since they simply take the path of least resistance and center themselves in the hole.....by pulling on the disc to the direction of maximum negative camber the bolts worked for me.

The H&R (TC114) Camber bolt works both on the STi and WRX. The front already comes with a stock eccentric bolt for camber adjusting so it does not require a aftermarket bolt. When it comes to the rear they are both just stock suspension bolts and when replacing suspension a camber bolt is a good cheap investment. With the H&R Camber bolt it replaces the rear top bolt. How to install:

Remove top bolt replace with the TC114- ***hand tighten only right now***
Than loosen the bottom bolt- no need to remove just loosen.
Adjust the TC114 until you are satisfied with the results- either neg. or pos.camber.
You than would need to torque the bottom bolt to spec and than follow with the TC114.
Some moving and adjusting may need to be done while both bolts are loose.

Hope this is some help....

So basically you've gotta get "lucky" before going to the alignment shop?

I called H&R and they didn't have an answer for me either. Hmm...

Well, I also talked to my alignment guy about the bolts, and had the directions sitting in the car. I fully expected once he told me the results I would have him tweak the camber but I did get lucky I guess. Remember, I maxed the camber and the dot on the head of the bolt was visually in the right place.....
