This link shows the same gauge I use to check camber. Literally takes seconds. If you refer to Nhluhr's string method for toe/thrust in the How-to section, you can learn to do your own alignments. Worth it. Plus save you alot of money if you like to experiment with settings.

I will be installing these plates very soon and I wonder if it is best to keep the stock camber bolt at "zero" and only use the camber plate to my desired camber or use both?? I'm only going for about -1.25 to -1.50 camber in the front and about -1.0 in the rear. And yes, I'm doing the alignment myself.

The camber plates are used for gross camber adjustment, the fine adjustments are done down below.

it's best to set the plates to "equal" locations.

then adjust the bolts to full negative (but matching Left to Right).

then when you adjust the camber up top, they'll still be matching (assuming you adjust each side equally).

then once your camber is where you want it, you adjust the toe to where you want it.

So adding negative camber via the plates will increase toe out? I'm getting ready to get camber plates and was hoping that I'd be able to add negative camber at the track and then set it back to my 'street' settings for everyday driving.

This doesn't seem that feasible as I won't know how badly I've affected toe. I guess then I need a good compromise for my camber settings.

I think I may have found my answer in this thread RCE camber plate questions

Correct, it's not a good idea to change camber settings between street and track since it will have an effect on toe as well. I have found that -2.5 degrees up front is a good compromise. Some will say it's too much for the street but with 0 toe I have not seen any uneven tire wear and the car drives straight as an arrow.

Slightly off topic sorry---

How much SAI can you guys run without having the top spring retainer contact the camber plate? Last time I got an alignment I told the guy to max out the eccentric camber boolts BEFORE he messed with the camber plate settings(sai). But I dont think he did because I just realized the spring retainer is gitting the camber plate.

This is only in the left side:
16.2degrees of SAI and -2.0 degrees of camber.
Right side: 15.8degrees od SAI and -2.0degrees of camber.

Im pretty sure its that '.4' difference in SAi thats my problem. God damn alignment shops. They dont take their time for anything.

the .4 difference is probably intentional so it doesnt follow the crown of the road too much. sounds weird, but it helps the car drive straiter.
