Pictures would be helpful, but it sounds like you will at least need new lateral links, endlinks, rear swaybar, wheel, axle, strut...maybe a few more things I'm forgetting. Plus the bodywork. If you replace all of those broken parts and get an alignment I would imagine it will drive like new again. Once again though, pics would help in assessing the damage.

I agree. Basically if all the damaged parts are replaced and you are able to get the alignment back in specs it should be fine. My step dad owns a body shop and my STi is the first one of my cars that I didn't buy as a total and fix

if its just suspension parts and body damage then it shoudl be ok. if theres chassis (sp?) damage then that could be a major problem.

in my case it drove just like new... oh wait it was brand new..... here's my lil story..... purchased brand new 6 miles on her... 4months later she had 3k miles, i had to take my dad to the dmv for something i dont remember we were leavin for vaca the next day.... i was waiting at a red light to turn left, light went green for me, i had to wait 15 to 30 sec to even pull out in the intersection to turn, i pulled out and my dad yelled oh **** i happend to glance to the left for a half sec then bam, some lady ran a red light and plowed into me at 45mph, luckly she swerved a lil before impact other wise she would have been threw my door and i might not be here to tell this. car spun 180. i opened my eyes my dad and lil brother were fine.... but i jumped out the car and tore this bit** a new one in the intersection... but that didnt matter she didnt speak english... but she did say i sorry i pay cash, she was in a crappy jeep grand cherokee all rusted out, any way 13,858 dollars to fix my car and took them 4 1/2 months i pretty much got a whole new frontend hood, bumper, fender, there is a huge 8 page list, car has been perfect since just like new....... now she's got 26k no problems,

Ive been in a similar situation it was a porsche 928, If your going to fix it replace EVERYTHING, anything that is even near a damaged part otherwise little things will always come up and it will definitly ruin the subie experience. I would spent top dollar, dont refurbish anything and dont have them heat anything and straighten it. just my 2 cents (I spent 4k on my porsche and it was never the same)

800 limited STI's in the world
800 limited STI's
tear own donw, pass it around
799 Limited STI's in the world

Sorry this just got me thinking that I hope I'm not the first one to part out a Limited. Looks like an ideal time to upgrade the suspension though...gotta look at the bright side. Maybe some Ohlins, RCE springs, Group N's ect ect.

Replace everything as was said before, and it will be fine again. Looks like the chassis wasn't damaged in anyway either by what you described. Good luck with the fix.

It can be replaced, and it shall drive again, even better actually with a better alignment.

My guess (and I'm far from an expert) is that since the damage was in the rear, it will probably be fine. That kind of damage in the front would probably still be OK but might take more time to work out all the little kinks.
