Talking Prodrives installed on an 06 STI

Last weekend some friends and I installed prodrive springs on my 06 sti.
The drop is perfect, it now looks like the front and rear are completely even- I don't know how much the rear dropped, if at all, but it looks great in my opinion.
I have ridden in a couple different sti's and have all thought they were too harsh for my liking and for the roads I drive on daily. The prodrives, as promised, make the car handle and feel like they are in more control of the car. I still feel every bad surface imperfection, but the car feels like it acknowledges the imperfection and goes on about it's business. It no longer, reacts and then takes a while to settle itself- it just says, "Oh, there you are pot hole! Thanks, I'm done with you!" Then spits it out.
Everyone's cars talk to them right? I thought so...
Seriously, I love the springs! As for performance, there is this particular sharp 90 degree left hand turn near my house that I used to take going about 30-32 mph and after a couple drives around the turn, I feel like I can just as comfortably take it a 40 mph as I used to at about 30 mph. I really like the progressiveness of the prodrives!
In short, if you are looking for a excellent daily driver spring on ruff potholed and rutted pavement the prodrives are the one for you! Ideally, once, I get enough money, I'll get the Ohlin struts to make what I believe will be an ideal daily driver setup for someone like me who wants the best of both worlds: comfort and capablility.
I used the prodrive bumpstops and amsoil racing grease and all stock top hats. My friend has group N top hats with his prodrives and we are considering driving our cars back to back for a nice comparison.

I'd like to say thanks to Trevor O and Armin as the install wouldn't have happened without them.
Oh, one last word of advice, rent a spring compressor! We installed mine without one and it is a "female dog"!!!!!

James

The more I drive the more I appreciate them! Tonight, on the way home I drove over a whole bunch of freeway expansion joints that previously were almost unsettling, and tonight they were just bumps in the road that were just less jarring- they were still there, but they felt smoother.
I'll try to get some pics this coming week!

I too got prodrives + grp N tops about a month ago and i love them. They provide a nice subtle increase in performance and a HUGE difference in DD. The car is very composed now with these and like mentioned before by the OP, you will still feel the bumps, just none of the dramatics. Bobblehead is decreased alot too on the fwy and the car no longer feels noticeably bouncy, however some slight bounce is still there, but its not enough to really bother most people IMO. The drop is very nice too and makes the car look tasteful IMO and never too low for any driveways or anything. In the end, if you want all out performance, i would go with the RCE's, but if your looking for a nice complaint compromise between comfort and performance, then go for the Prodrives.

WorldOne also has the best prices on these i have found @ 269 where everyone else is 279 and up i believe. Big thanks to Armin @ W1.

Bump for Pics! I'm also interested in buying these springs! After flyind to Vancouver at warp speed I really noticed the boblehead and wanted to know what I could do to change that! Seems like these might be the answer I was looking for!

Thanks,

Jay

Seats. Fair warning -- springs help a bit, but most of the bobblehead comes from the seats.

See my sig, and follow the relevant links, to learn my view on Prodrives on an '05. After 30k+ miles I am still quite happy with the springs. Which is not to say that I'm not also on the lookout for better struts!

The '06's I have seen seem to sit a bit high in front compared to the '05's so I think the end result of '05 spec Prodrive springs on an '06 would be a nearly level stance.

Also I find it very interesting that Prodrive did not issue '06 and '07 specific springs. They are, first and foremost, an engineering concern, and they did release different springs for '04 and '05 cars, so in my ever-so-humble opinion if they had they felt the need to change springs for '06 and '07 they would have done so.

As I recall the change that affects the springs was the switch over of the front hub in 05. 06 and 07 use the same larger hub. The larger hub changed the strut mount and the result was the strut was slightly shorter. Last night I was checking out the Swift spring product line and notice they also have 04 and 05+ specific springs. As far as I know RCE only has one size spring for all years. I'm not sure about Pinks.
