Post Just Got Alignment are my Specs Out of Order.

Well Just lowered my 05 Sti on Cobb Sport Springs and just came back from the alignment shop and so everybody knows nothing is bent up front. Now for the numbers well the before are as fallows.

Left Front Camber: -0.1 Right Front Camber -1.1

Left Front Toe: -0.14 Right Front Toe: -0.24

Left Rear Camber: -1.3 Right Rear Camber: -2.1

Left Rear Toe: -0.20 Right Rear Toe: 0.07

Current Measurement After the Alignment:

L Front Camber: -0.3 R Front Camber: -1.1

L Front Toe: 0.00 R Front Toe: -0.01

L Rear Camber: -1.4 R Rear Camber: -1.7

L Rear Toe: 0.00 R Rear Toe: -0.01

That is the best the Shop can do is there something wrong with the car and are the current settings on the car OK or do you think I need to get Front Camber Bolts to even out the Front Camber.. Consider that this car is only daily driven and occasional spirited driving in Hill Country so will these settings be Ok or will they wear out the tires to quickly or cause it to handle bad.

Thanks in Advance (P.S) Sorry for Long Post

Looks like you need a different alignment shop.

How close is another alignment shop???

Im suprised they couldnt even out the alignment up front. The rear doesnt seem to bad, but the front imo is really off.

Maybe do a search and see others results with the cobb springs.

Turninconcepts beat me to it, I was trying to be polite, but yeah go somewhere else and get a refund.

damn... the least they could have done for you up front if they couldn't get more camber on the left would be to even it out on the right...

That's not right...

The fact that they got NO difference on front right after the drop, and that they only got .2 change on the front left tells me they either suck or they had the noob working on your car with no supervision.

Yes they did not want to work on my car any longer said that is the best they could do maybe it was a noobie. Also my steering wheel is not centered either and they said no warranty because I went away from factory settings. So will these be okay for a month or so till I save some more money for new alingment and do you think it was just a bad Shop that had an inexperienced person working on the car or do you think I need camber bolts up front and if so where do I buy them. THANKS.

no way... talk to management and tell them what is going on... Then have the car realigned, either at the same shop or another reputable shop. Them not centering the steering wheel for you is unacceptable as well... I'd recommend talking to someone who cares about how their business is run.

Obviously you're getting -1.0 on the right side up front, so you should be able to get close to that on the left. You don't need camber plates to get around -1.0 on the stock setup in front, but you can get them if you want to dial in more. www.racecompengineering.com for plates if you want them... but you don't need them unless you want/need more camber than about -1.0.

You will be fine. They got the toe to basically zero, which is the biggest factor in premature tire wear.

Our cars have a tendency to push/understeer and having so little neg camber in front with more in the rear will make that worse. Zero toe is good for most situations.

I would get another shop to re-do your alignment. I would suggest around -2 front and -1 rear for fun street driving, +or- .5 If a diff shop can nail your alignment specs, then go back to the first and have them make it up to you somehow.

Austin is right that the toe will effect wear the most but your funky camber settings wont do you any favors either. At minimum, you should have more in the front than rear and they should be even left-to-right.

Wow that is an awful alignment. Go back and demand a refund or make them do it right.

It would be good if you knew the thrust angle as well as you said your steering wheel isn't straight any more. That should be on the printout somewhere. It needs to be zero with the steering wheel straight. It's possible to get the other settings looking OK but the whole car "crabbing" if the thrust angle is off which will also kill your tyres.

I agree with -2 front camber, -1 rear and zero toe all round as a good starting point for street driving. But you'll likely need camber bolts (or plates) to get to -2 on the front.

I'd have the front caster maxed out as well (it's not really adjustable but there's usually a bit of room for tweaking).

Also agree 100% that both sides should be equal for each setting. Better to have -1.7 both sides than -1.7 one side and -2 the other. Any good shop should be able to do that as a matter of course.

That is a wack alignment job. Not only did the f up your camber royally, which is completely unacceptable, but they also let some toe on two wheels. Personally, I do not see how an alignment shop cannot get zero toe. Its not that difficult. Like gp9u stated above, also check your thrust angle and check the caster (which should be the same if you've never wrecked the car). Even a bad alignment shop should do better than what you got...

Do any of you recommend a specific alignment shop?
