IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | I have a quick question. Has anyone seen the new SPT STB installed on own cars? Reason is I know that you always have to move the AC bracket and then there are some issues with rubbing the soft/rubber section of the lines. I never put one on due to the AC lines being rubbed and possibly damaged over time. Is the SPT STB different in any way or is it just another bar? This ad is not endorsed by this member. | dances with roads | SPT strut tower brace? Never heard of it. So I decided to take a look and here is what I found. Price was $215, way too high for what appears to be a standard-issue rear STB -- but then it *does* have "STi" stamped into it: ST205004S030 Strut Tower Brace - Rear - Impreza <table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="580"><tbody><tr><td colspan="2" height="10" valign="top"> Strut Tower Brace - Rear - Impreza </td> <td rowspan="2" valign="top"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" valign="top"> High-strength aluminum bar increases chassis stability by providing additional stiffness to the rear upper suspension area.2002 - 2003 - Impreza WRX Sedan <input name="template" value="A" type="hidden"> <input name="productid" value="1959193" type="hidden"> </td></tr></tbody></table> |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Actually, I found it in the lastest issue of the SPT parts book at the dealer (the one with the 06' STi at the top). The bar is seen on the middle of page 11. It states it will be available Nov 06', and in the back it states Part# TBA ,but will fit WRX & STi Imprezas. I can't seem to find it on any online site. I have seen the rear STB, but this one is for the front. Its SPT dark gray and is one solid bar with no pivots. It also appears to have a small bracket on the driver side. Maybe it has to do with the AC lines. Sorry I don't have a scanner or camera to post a picture. |

| nulla poena sine lege | Helps some on a lowered car not so much on a stock height car. Other things you should do first such as a rear strut tower bar...CarLabs X-brace if you can afford it. As you can see, I have a few modest suspension mods and no front strut tower bar yet based on the advice of people who know far more than I about such things. |

| dances with roads | Does it help at 7 tenths? I'd have to say no. Does it help at 10 tenths? Probably, but there are a lot of other things that help more and should be done first if that is your goal. Does it help in other ways? Absolutely positively yes. My windshield cracking noise, which the car had from new, is GONE now, ever since I added a front strut tower bar. My car will not go without one, period. And I like the look of the SPT piece, can't wait to see one in person. |
