IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Third time's a charm.. replacing the mounts soon at ATX (stock mounts). Went to the dealer to get it checked and the service manager said get the suspension back to stock to get it warrantied. FK that !!.. all i have is sways n endlinks. ANYHOW, IF the strut mounts DONT fix the issue, then it HAS to be the struts themselves... In that case I WILL need to goto a dealer to replace them. Anyone know of a GOOD suby dealer (service dept) in NYC/NJ that will replace the struts even if i have cusco sways and kb endlinks ?? This ad is not endorsed by this member. That's the stealership hoping you will just pay them to fix the problem. Your sways and endlinks should have nothing to do with the warrany on your struts.

The clunk DOES NOT mean they are blown, borked, ruined, etc. Replacing them will work for a little bit but the clunk will return. Again it is the design of the strut that causes the clunk. |

I have an appointment with my dealer on 1/8 to get mine looked at. I started a case with Subaru for this since my warranty was up on 12/5. If this is really no big deal, I may just let it go instead of fighting with the dealer and Subaru.

Subaru typically replaces them under warranty without question and the new struts will be quiet for some time. However, the clunk will return. Like I stated above, the clunk is a side effect of the design of the strut.

| Lurker | Dreaded clunk is back.. ??? When does the "clunk happen? I have a Clunk at start up. I always thought that I had bad motor mounts. When I turn the engine over I only hear the motor turning over..Wump wump wump fire. Only when the motor fires (starts) is when my "clunk occurs".. Not trying to hi-jack. However this thread did get my attention.. Last edited by AWNOPEEL; 01-05-2007 at 05:55 PM. |

If it is brand new I would hie thee to the dealer and have it checked out. If it is a 2006 I would also hie thee to the dealer and have them check for liquid-filled motor mounts; if it has them, get them replaced. There's a TSB so they should do it under warranty. And yes this is a complete thread hijack! If you want to continue the discussion it would be best to start a new thread in Engine, Power and Performance or the warranty forum.

The engine will jump around in the engine bay slamming it self against the broken mounts/frame. Please be a little more descriptive in the sound...it could be a different cause than the struts.
