Default coilover installing problem HELP ASAP!

so i was installing my cusco coilover with my friend. we finished the front coilovers and we are about to do the rear coilovers. So we jacked up the car with the wheels on bricks since my car is very low and i couldn't get my jack to fit in.
so while we are jacking up the car, the wheel(that was on the brick) slips and wheels came off the brick. the car didn't drop or fell hard since all the wheels were on the car at the time. HOWEVER, i start hearing water dripping noise from underneath the car. we check it out and it was tranny fluid. and we notice that front driver side of the axle came loose from the tranny! about 1-2 inch out. we called some guys and they told us to put it back in. so after messing with it about a hour, we finally did.

so with that said. does this happened to anybody? i never seen a axle come off like that.
And is this safe to drive once we top off the fluid? or do i need to replace anything?

please reply as soon as possible
thanks
-jae

I've never heard of this before. I would take it to a Subaru tech and have him take a look at it.

you're axle came loose - happens during coilover installs sometimes. Don't be stupid like me and not notice it until you drive off.

Just follow the instructions on putting an axle back - its pretty much just jammin it back in the diff.

You were with Randy right? He called me. There shouldn't be a problem as long as you got the axle installed all the way. He didn't tell me the wheels were on bricks, but that still doesn't explain how the axle would come out. Very strange. As long as the gear oil isn't still leaking you can just top it off and you should be fine. Don't take your car to the dealer for service anymore, who knows wheather or not the mechanics are having fun in your car at your expense.

P.S. run minimum camber on the plates till you get a good alignment. I didn't and tore my tires up. Now I need an alignment and a new set of tires. Dam.

yeah its funny, the tranny oil would leak for little and it stopped. we jammed it in all the way. and i haven't driven it yet.

wheels were on brick since the jack didn't fit. and i forgot to put it on 1st and i guess it slipped off while we were jacking it up.

thanks for the info. so axle shouldn't come off while im driving right?

You'll be fine, just make sure you put it back in. It happens.

May I suggest using 2 scrap pieces of lumber from Home Depot over bricks? I use two pieces about 8" wide, 12-18" long and are about 1-2" high. It gives my cars just enough clearance to get my jack under the car.

If the hub is not supported when the strut/coilover is removed, the hub will tip outward and pull the shaft out of the diff.
