Please tell me you are wrong when you say the RCEs are more harsh than Tanabes. I have had some problems lately and am unable to install my springs yet. The whole reason I went with the RCEs is because I could not stand the harshness of the Tanabes.

There is no way that the RCE springs are harsher than Tanabe's. PERIOD. I have driven on both and there really is no comparison.

Didn't you just say you didn't know anything about the tanabe's? I'm personally getting cobb lowering springs b/c they are a a couple of dollars cheaper then the RCE springs. I'm not a hardcore suspension guy so I think I'll be happy with those.

This is my statement.

Person X says too harsh.

Person Z says too firm.

Person Y says great.

Person F says incredible.

Person J says best thing since sliced bread.

Everyone has a different opinion based on their experience and knowledge.

So its all subjective.

Some autocross, some track, some come from M3, 911s, Teins, Stock, Lincolns(lol), GTi's, Mustangs,..etc.....................

So there is no ONE right answer.

One thing is for sure, they are not and NOTHING will be the END ALL answer. We tried to make the best compromise for BOTH street and track. Show me someone who is dedicated to racing, or auto-x ing who doesnt make sacrifices......

I drove on most if not all the springs out there. at one point in late 2005 we had 5 Sti's with lowering springs on them doing comparisons. When I say we did ALOT of work on these springs, I mean we did ALOT of work. Alot went into the rates and the front to rear ratio and ride height and the marriage of these to the stock struts.

Final words.........................................I would say most of whats on the market( ALL) are great street springs and fall short on the track. So we aimed for the sky on this one and while making it "streetable".

For the why not linear questions.........we tried that..LOFL..and it was toooo stiff,. period. The diameter of the spring had to be so thin it would create problems later, and some.

For the people who bought them thank you for the support. For the people who are interested and on the fence.....CALL ME and I can find someone propb near you to get a ride. IF you live within an HOUR of us here in MD..call me and I will drive to you so you can drive my car( until it sells),..or the other shop demo springs car.

Too all.
I'm wrighting from experiance. I had the Tanabe GF-210 springs on an 05 STi over 8 months and in comparison to the RCE's the RCE's feel stiffer, which they are especially in the rear and from me speaking to RCE over the phone I can recall that Myles mentioned that the Tanbes claimed a specific spring rate but when he tested them they seemed a litte lower then what they claimed giving them a softer ride. So if the Tanabes are less stiffer then the RCE's then TO ME the RCE's feel stiffer and when going over bumps and pot holes its harsher.

The RCE's give less body roll then the Tanabes and there is less of a bobble head affect, with the RCE's the bobble head is almost gone.
I also noticed that the RCE's transfer more NVH threw the body of the car but again this is on my car, from my experiance.

Then I installed the Group-N tops mounts and the was also an increase in NVH and a stiffer ride especially in the front.

So TO ME the RCE is more stiffer and give more NVH then the Tanabes.

FOR ME the RCE's are awesome. Anyone who gets them won't regret it.
It's like the first time you bone, you keep going back for more and you end up loving it.

Very accurate. So most reviews look like that, AND add in the part about the small bumps feeling better than stock...which is true and THAT I think is the part that people scratch their heads about because they dont understand HOW that could be true, yet it being so firm.

Simple. The progressive part of the spring, esp in the rear, account for 3/4 of an inch of travel (small bumps) from there on (exit ramps and track turns) the rear is FIRM and WORKS well.

I can't wait to install my RCE springs. I'll be replacing my Swifts with them. I fall into the former Mustang owner catagory that hates the harshness of the stock struts. I'll put up a review after they're in and I've gotten a chance to put them through the paces.

hmm i'm probably gonna go with rce springs cause everyone seems to say they perform better than the tanabes... but they're like twice as expensive!

ever hear the saying you get what you pay for? With RCE you are getting the BEST customer service on the planet! you are getting a WELL engineered product that actually works on track!

These are not small things, nor are they things you will find many other places. This is why I'll always go back to racecomp

Finally a perfectly honest answer that admits the springs very few short comings and also clearly explains your goals while designing them. I am officially sold...you just pushed my over the fence The entire RCE spring thread could be erased and replaced with your last post. It also shows dedication to customer support. Awesome. I'll be calling you after the snow stops flyin!

I would of gotten the RCE springs, but I was a little on a budget b/c I bought wheels and tires for my STi. So I ended up with the cobb lowering sport springs... I hope I made a good decision on those instead of the cheaper tanabes. As long as the handling is a bit better then now I'm very satisfied.
