Well, what do you plan on doing with your car? If you plan on AutoX, or track days, do suspension first. The car has plenty of power for most drivers getting into competition. If you plan on drag, sure...go Stage II+Protune first because you don't need suspension work (yet) to go straight.

I did Sways and Stage II at the same time, and it felt like a whole other car. However, your course of action is also budget depending so the final call is up to you and your wallet.

Suspension, because even if you go with a bigger turbo you wont be able to put all that power to the ground without a great suspension set up, plus you are already at STG. 2 so the best thing now is learn your cars capabilities around the twisties PLUS it will help your confidence emmensely if your car is well ballanced (ie.. stg2. + suspension upgrades)...
Think about that..

good luck..

Suspension and brakes...what the sense of having all that power if you can't control it like you want and stop when you need to.

Sway bars should be the head of the list for suspension upgrades. Huge difference.

If this is a daily driver Stage 2 should be enough power for now unless you're a complete power junky. Either way suspension would be my choice. I'd drop it with RCE's (You get the awesome look and the car noticeably handles a lot better). Next would be Sways (Whiteline 27mm front, and 24mm rear). As far as brakes go if you're not tracking the car them I would just go with Cobb SS Brake Lines. I wouldn't go aftermarket brakes until you need to replace the stock components.

If you're tracking the car go for suspension / brakes. But if it's a street car the stock stuff is good enough (you should never overheat the stock brakes on the street). Sways would be a cheap way to improve suspension for the street though, but after that I'd put my money toward more power!

My first mods were RBF 600 brake fluid and some SS brake lines. I always do chassis first.

there is no sense in my book to do meth after stage 2 with a stock snail.... Do your stage II if you havent already and take care of the suspension. It is a huge increase in the driveability of the car. If later you want to go bigger turbo, do it all at once. Add the turbo, meth and pro tune.....

Think of it like this - your car, stock, already has a better power to weight ratio than 95% of the cars on the road. You've now made it considerably faster. You need for it to stop considerably better as well. Get some lines, fluid, and better pads. If you're into autoX or roadracing take a look at the Cusco master cylinder brace as well.

i went with power first.

i have a lot of cars to keep up with around here. the sti is not a top performer in regards to acceleration where im from. i had to make up for it. im still trying to squeeze out some HP.

The STI has a brilliant AWD system and handles marvelously with even light suspension work. The handling improvement from sway bars and struts is drastic. The stage 2 upgrade is moderate, but nowhere near the magnitude of upgrade compared to what even minor suspension work (and an alignment) can do.

Do you worry that a 138hp Miata could lose you in the twisties?

I had thousands of dollars in my suspension before I even bothered to reflash my ECU for a "stage 1" tune.

From day to day, every now and then I wish I had a bit more power. But during and after every autocross I'm extremely happy that I chose the suspension upgrades.
