IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Whoa, chromoly. There's a curveball I didn't expect- so these are going to be pretty stiff compared to regular spring steel bars. I'm not sure what the translation here is relative to mild steel, but I bet these will feel at least as stiff as Whiteline 27mm's front and rear, without the weight. I like that you put tabs on 'em and I really like that you went with an equal size front and rear. Myles, you'll be hearing from me if you don't contact me first! IWSTI Addict since: May 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | ^^ Chromoly and mild steel have the same "stiffness” as Does spring steel. Other properties are different like the tensile strength or yield strength. The Modulus of Elasticity is the same for all 3 materials. |

Wikipedia says the advantage is tensile strength, which is more of a durability strength than a rigidity strength. This surely supports what you say. Plus, they all seem to have 95-97% iron, so perhaps I'm naive, but how much could they possibly differ in torsional stiffness? Last edited by stretch; 04-17-2008 at 05:55 AM. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (10) | I am excited that YOU guys are excited. I have mentioned these to a few over the last month and most will tell you, I have wanted to do it for a long time, but wanted to make sure we brought something to market that the community would like, use and benefit from. As for color, I dont want to do a "poll" but I fear that yellow bars would be too much for under the car. I mean STI makes pink bars and its like..."WOW" to anyone not "into" the Subaru "thing" per say. Black is low key and conservertive. We joked yesterday about them being chrome or polished or nickel plated for the BLING factor and we laughed for hours on that one, only because right now they are uncoated and look sooo good under the car. I will post more pics today. Myles ( breathing again) |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (14) | I figure I'll chime in here since the prototypes are on my car right now. I switched directly from the Whiteline 27-29mm front (set on soft) and 24mm rear (set in the middle) to these bars, set on stiff in the front and middle in the rear. My initial reactions are very positive. I think the big Whiteline front bar is a very good solution, but with higher spring rates and my quick rack things were a little too lively at the front end. The slightly smaller front bar takes the edge off, but still allows for sharp turn-in feel. It's difficult to really develop a strong opinion as of yet, since my alignment and tires are both shot but once I get that taken care of I'll have a much better idea. I'll also be at the track in less than 2 weeks so they will have their first track outing (results to follow). Obviously I may be a bit biased as a contributor to the development process but I honestly think that most will like them. As Myles mentioned, there is one minor revision that we feel needs to be made to the front bar but other than that I have no complaints. I'll update this as I gather more info. |
